Two Questions For Our Sept. Trip

My Wife and I will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter from Sept. 8 - 15. First off we were wondering where is the best place to request a room at POFQ? Secondly we want to check out Universal Studios IOA, we called Disney reservations and they said that they don't offer tours there. Does anyone know if you can arrange tours there at the hotels in person if not what is the best way to get there? Any info/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

No, nowhere on Disney property will you find them offering or helping you get to Universal. That would be like Sprint trying to sell you on using Cingular. You're pretty much on your own to get to IOA from Disney. Cab or renting a car or something like that.

Port Orleans French Quarter is not a large resort so most rooms are within a short walk of the main lobby and food court. If you don't like noise, request a room away from where they receive deliveries. Our room was in a building near the front of the resort but within earshot of the delivery site. All I could hear from about 4:30 or 5:00 am was the beeping of the different trucks as they back in to unload. If I had known about that, I would have requested a room away from that site.

If you aren't using a personal car or rental for your trip, you might want to consider renting one for a day to make a trip to Universal. You can easily get a car by asking at guest services. I think they will contact the rental company for you. If you belong to AAA, you might want to consider getting triptiks before you leave home. If not, I'm sure you can get everything you need from the rental company.

You will probably have to rent a car for the day. There are a few rental car sites on Disney property. National has a rental car site at the Dolphin resort near Epcot and Alamo has one at one of the hotels near DTD..Holiday Inn, I think. There are probably a few more in the area.

Check out this site www.wdwinfo.com. They have forums like these and you can probably get your question answered about room location. WDWMagic just tends to be friendlier and people aren't so wacky.

Good luck to you.....

You can also check with Mear's shuttle as they offer a pick up and drop off service to and from the other attractions besides Disney in the Orlando area. I never had a problem in POFQ in terms of noise but i was on the inside of the resort and pretty far away from the parking lot so that might have had something to do with it. Just let them know what your preferences are( quiet, near the pool whatever) and Im sure Disney will try to accomodate you.
Hey JordanYosh, I am sorry that you havent had good experiences here but I happen to think I am pretty friendly. A little wacky perhaps but arent we all?? :hammer: :hammer: Belle
