This upset me too! How could Mickey Mouse, one of the most popular cartoon characters of all time, be behind Pikachu (Miramax which is owned by Disney own the movie rights to the characters) and Fat Albert.

Unfortunlately, while Mickey is a swell guy, he is just NOT AS FUNNY as most of the characters. People just don't truly associate him as a hillarious character.

Right, but it's not the 50 most Hilarious Characters...it's the 50 Greatest. Where would everyone else be if not for the Mouse? :(

Donald was pretty far down the list too. *sigh*

I agree with Bugs being number one (we go back a long way! :D ) , but Top Cat??!! I like Top Cat, but not enough to be on the top 10 (if the top 50 even). WHERE'S PIXIE AND DIXIE???!! But that's TV guide for you. Did you see who got in their top ten worst tv shows of all time? They put HOGANS HEROES in the top 5!! Blasphemy!! :)

well, as much as I liked it, there really was little/no redeeming value about the show

I thought that was a pretty bad choice putting Mickey at number 19. But I definetely agree with Homer and Rocky and Bullwinkle!
And Donald was number 43! That's nuts! Yeesh...
But what cover did you get?
I got Bullwinkle pulling Homer out of a hat.

Go to tvguide.com

At the bottom left side it should say something like TV Guide celebrates 50th aniversary button or something. Click it and you should see a link to the cartoon list.

I thought it was just me being thick !!

Rocky & Bullwinkle (No 3), Beavis & Butt-Head (No 4), Fred & Barney (No 6), Bart & Lisa etc, etc, etc, are shows (or at least half of the cast ) - not INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERS. If the characters were listed individually (such as Bugs, Homer etc ) then they would be way down the list.
There should be a combined entry for "Disney" then all the characters at WDW would be number 1.

Yet another ploy by TV Guide to sell copies and keep their name on the lips of the public...

Bugs as #1 is a very good choice, but surely thought Mickey would have been higher. The PowerPuff Girls at #13? Give me a break. And the Roadrunner being stuck at #38? And who in the heck is Gerald McBoing-Boing? Geesh, I'm getting old...

Gerald McBoing-Boing according to TV Guide:

Gerald McBoing-Boing was a little boy who couldn't speak, but out of his tiny mouth exploded the most amazing sound effects. The Gerald McBoing-Boing Show, which premiered in 1956 and aired Sunday afternoons on CBS, was the first network catoon show. Gerald never appeared in any of the cartoon; he was just the host in the brief introductions.

I would have respected you a lot more if you hadn't given credit to TV Guide.:D:D :D Thanks for the info!

TV Guide is just plain weird based on how they pick the Top 50 for anything. They picked Seinfeld the Best TV Show of All Time above that of I Love Lucy.

The reason they keep picking Top 50's this year is because it is the 50th aniversary of TV Guide.

TV Guide is notorious for having outragously terrible lists. I don't pay too much attention to them. Just add this one to that list.

George of the Jungle and Undedog, I don't mind since Disney has already or is planning to make films based on those characters. But the Powerpuff Girls thing really gets me ed since if they are so popular then why did their movie tank? I don't remember anything of Mickey Mouse tanking (involving him as the main character of a movie or short or whatever).
