I was looking for some feedback for the Tusker House lunch/dinner.
Also, does anybody know if the characters are at lunch, or only breakfast and dinner?

We tried it for lunch for the first time this past July after having gone to breakfast several times previously.

Characters are there, in fact we saw characters more frequently than our previous breakfast experiences.

The food was great, there was plenty of variety from safe offerings to more "exotic" . My family was worried about the offerings (I was excited)...we all enjoyed it. Even my wife who originally opposed it felt it was a great meal and it has been etched into our rotation of must do places to eat. We all left full and happy!

Have been to Tusker House numerous times and are booked again for our upcoming stay. We are a couple w/adult grandchildren who thoroughly enjoy the food offerings at TH. Seeing the character interactions is such fun.

Characters are currently at all 3 meals of the day! I really enjoyed our experience at Tusker House. The dishes are more unique and flavorful than the average Disney buffet. It’s not as good as Boma but obviously a much easier restaurant to get to. I also like how “airy” the central area feels. It fits right into Africa and we had great interactions with the characters!

I like it. Good choice for Rivers of Light VIP ticket as it is cheaper than Tiffins. If you get a breakfast reservation for approx 10:30, it's almost like brunch as they switch from breakfast to lunch around 11:00 am. You can still go up and get the lunch buffet if you're not ready to leave.

It is very popular and gets high marks from many. I've tried it twice and hated it. We've totally written it off and will stick with Tiffins, or leaving the park and going to Sanaa if we want things in that vein; however, my friend went back in June and she raved about it...and was thankful I didn't share my opinion with her before her trip. So, I think most people come away with a positive food experience.

I tried Tusker House with my family for dinner about a year and a half ago. There was plenty of character interaction and the AC is very effective.

Otherwise, we didn't really like it. DH and I are very fond of Indian, Moroccan and Ethiopian food, and I usually do well with West African/Ghanaian food. Maybe too many of the entrees were strangely bland and loaded with coconut oils. Either way, not yum for us.

Anyway, these days, we usually have dinner at Yak & Yeti instead when we're in Animal Kingdom. A couple of cold Yak Attacks makes everything taste better. I'll also vouch for Sanaa for dinner. And for a quick tasty lunch, we're all about Satu'li Canteen.

Tusker House is one of our favorites and is a must every time we do AK. We have always had phenomenal wait staff. One year my husband and I were running late to our Lion King fastpass and we hadn't met all the characters. They took us to each and every character for a quick photo. They made that meal/day/trip itself so special. We will never forget that. For that reason alone, we always get a reservation there and we have always had great experiences.

Characters were good in the evening and getting the ROL package makes sense.

Wife & I loved the food but kids struggled. They actually kindly did the kids some chicken tenders and fries which was a little smaller embarrassing!

I like Tusker House. Prefer early dinner over breakfast. We’ve done it both with and w/o ROL. It worked well to allow us to see ROL when it first came out and FPs vanished and line was so long. Now that I’ve gotten ROL outbof my system (for good/forever), don’t mind Tusker on it’s own. Good tomplan a LK show immediately after. For anyone looking for Minnie, she isn’t there. She and Mickey are together however at Adventurer’s Outpost. Super cute Safari outfits at both places. We saw Daisy, Donald, Goofy & Mickey at Tusker. Well done.

Tusker House is one of our favorites. We generally do one of the last breakfast offerings. We do this for a couple reasons... it lets us get an early trip in on Kilimanjaro Safari before brunch, Breakfast is one of our favorite meals of the day but we also get some early exotic lunch offerings, slightly less crowds and more character interaction. The food is not signature but it is tasty and the character interaction is great.

We weren’t so lucky with late breakfast. Preferred early dinner. Seemed like they were slow to put out lunch and breakfast was getting skimpy. Still enjoyed the overall experience. Felt that breakfast was very experience for what we had.

They are really catching on to people having a breakfast seating and staying into lunch. I guess it isnt stated anywhere that it shouldn’t be done but it shouldn’t. If you book breakfast then eat breakfast and move along. As stated above they have gotten very slow about putting out the lunch food as long as breakfast diners are still seated.

Tuskerhaus breakfast hours are 8-10:55 and lunch hours start at 11. If I book a 10:45 breakfast Disney, by their own doing, has set it up that I will be eating both breakfast and lunch. No one is going to expect that I eat my breakfast food for 15 min and then just stop eating because it is lunch foods at 11. If they don't want people eating both they would set up a gap in time to move breakfast people out. Say breakfast stops at 10:30 and lunch starts at 11 or something along those lines. It isn't stated anywhere, because it is set up to allow you to be part of both breakfast and lunch.

That said, I don't think those 9:30 breakfast bookings should be lingering to get lunch foods, but where do you draw the line? And if Disney really wanted a line drawn they could create that gap to move diners out.
