Tusker House - Meal Time Changes

Hi Folks

I'm heading to the World in November with the Wife. We booked to have dinner at Tusker House on Sunday 9th November. We booked a late dinner for about 4:45pm with the park closing at 5pm. We have done that in the past and its a nice slow walk out of the park taking photos with no crowds.

However, looking on wdw website they have changed the meal times. We are now classed as "Lunch" which is a character meal?... Is it a character meal or would it be the normal "dinner" with no character?

Cheers

I have a similar question. Never been to Tusker House and wanted to try it on our upcoming trip in Oct. We don't want to do a character meal so it seems like our only option is Dinner. Looking on the dining reservations page there are no dinners scheduled during our trip. We figured it was because of how late they start dinner and how early the park closes. Either dinner is shown but listed as Closed, or Lunch is extended until 5 and Dinner isn't even listed. So there are no character-free dining options available at Tusker House?

I guess what would make me concerned about being the last seating of a meal is how much new foods will be brought out to the buffet the last hour at park closing. We did Yak & Yeti and enjoyed leaving the park too when the park was pretty empty, some great photo's.

Not sure why there are no times for dinner available right now and everything just says lunch. But the way it's been is that lunch has characters, while dinner does not. Perhaps they are changing the hours around to make way for something new or different. Just goes to show that everything is subject to change.

But to answer your question, if you are eating 'lunch', there should be characters.

Having eaten there twice in the past at park closing the place was full so new food kept coming out. When we left it was still over 3/4 full.

I think the times got changed due to the Harambe nights with no dinner service on a Saturday.

As for the character side of the meal. From what I have seen its like any character dining where they come around to you. I'm planning on being in the main dining hall and not a smaller side room. Was chaos there last time with two tables of 10 in there.
