Too much Mr. Ray will make your life a very dull day...

Heh heh... Balance... I think Ellen's Energy Adventure works nicely. The same type of rehab & balance found in UoE could work here if you think about it. Just more interactive stuff and less Jeopardy...

Well it doesn't have to be Mr. Ray the whole day, it can be Scar doing the intro movie and Mr. Ray doing the Seacab voice overs. Either way, as long as they keep the focus on education, I think it would work.

It's not that Seabase does or does not fit in Nemo. The concern, IMO, is does Nemo fit in Seabase?

I think so, it just has to be done in the right way.
That seems like two ways of saying the same thing...

I do see your point... and I was a big fan of the seabase concept.

However, just for a moment, pretend that you had never been on the old Living Seas. Pretend that the first time you went on was just last week. And did it work for you? Did it actually make any sense to have fictional Nemo characters inside a remote seabase lab?

Yes, you're in the Visitor Center... but is that a real excuse?

I think the real "lab theme" of the Seabase needs to be looked at. Right now I see nothing anymore that has anything to do with a lab. I say, keep the Hydrolators, bring back the Sea Cabs, and make the preshow manditory once again with a new movie in both preshows. Change the theme to more of a place to learn about the sea rather than an undersea lab. The undersea lab theme just seems not to work anymore with the Nemo theming. An undersea museum or tourist attaction of the future though... That is a concept that I think would work. Something maybe based on the Sea Castle from Horizons with nemo added in there... that I think would work much better than a lab.

Now, I did love the lab feel before, but now it seems to be too mixed. The lab and nemo themes don't mix too well. I think that it could work much better if the concept of a lab was changed to something more fun.

What do you think?

Someone else posted it - more Doryies, Nemo's, etc.

What kind of turns me off about the aqurium/tank is that there are way too many of those ugly looking light brown, do nothing fish in the tank. There is what, ONE sea turtle?

Make the reef look more like the Great Barrier reef off the coast of Austrailia, which would continue the Nemo theme, and put lots of COLORFUL fish.

How many people do you think would be standing in front of the windows if there were lots of colors in the water? I think LOTS. Those ugly brown fish are not thrilling to watch, imho.

Hopefully not drifting here, but I think that the overhead tank at Seaworld is much better. Sure, there isn't that much color, but you do get to see sharks, etc (killers).

Now I'm not saying that WDW should redo the tank as an overhead tank, but just bring in some colorful fish to the tank.
Yes thats basically what I am saying. When the attraction first opened it had a thriving population of colorful fish, but over the years either by removal or death, those colorful fish have disappeared. Thus leaving the heartier/healthier standard gaming fish(boring), as opposed to the tropical variety you so commonly see in aquarium settings. I'm sure this is because Disney made cutbacks to this attraction and the side effect was that they had to get rid of most of the hard to care for species(i.e. special diets, high water quality needs, etc...).

The tank is the central focal point to this entire attraction, and if that sucks what does that say about the rest of the pavillion?

I can take the world's largest tank, fill it with water and mud, and call it the world's largest tank. It will only become the world's best tank if the fish are just as exciting.

They could still have a lab area in the attraction, to keep with the whole "learning about the ocean" theme. But they shouldn't keep it as Seabase alpha research lab for the central themeing of the attraction, just doesn't work anymore. It should be more like an undersea visitors center as you said, that way it could go in all sorts of directions, as far as theeming.

Exactly, and at this point the fish in the tank appear bored and boring at the same time. TLS has the potential to become one of the world's best tanks though.
