Was at WDW 11-27 thru 12-3. Got to visit Turtle Talk with Crush at the Living Seas. One of the best interactive shows. Really surprised I hadn't heard much about it on the board or in Disney advertising.

If at EPCOT I highly reccommend you take time to check it out.

It's been in the paper and on the forums a bit. . . moreso on the general "trip reports."

Glad you liked it!

It's in a pretty good sized room, with plenty of room for the kiddies up front to sit on the floor. The show only lasts about 10 minutes, but it is simply amazing. Whoever they have doing the voice of Crush is dead-on with the imitation, and is very good interacting with the audience. One part had Crush showing off his speed and crashing into the aquarium wall. Very, very well done. It's really nice to see some signs of life coming back to The Living Seas.

As far as how many people it cycles, I don't really know, but the queue outside never got close to full while I was there (12/8/04).

We tried to get in on Saturday 12/11 but the wait was 30 - 45 minutes and I couldn't convince my 4 year old to do it. I've heard it's fantastic though and will make a point of heading there first thing in the morning on my next visit.

It is nice to see that people are finally getting back over to that part of the park. If it took a character overlay, I'm glad it finally came and people are enjoying the seas again. I wonder if the entire pavilion will change sometime though. The Sea Base Alpha idea (and movie) will prob have to change if the theme is now Nemo.

I think Disney can still keep the balance between authenticity and Nemo. . . I would say, mass-advertise Crush and Co, but keep Seabase Alpha relatively how it is now. . .

Mr. Computer thanks you!

Are you sure that's a computer? It's the most natural sounding one I've ever heard.

Also - Donick - Did you take those pics without a flash? They're great!

I think its great that they are finally breathing life back into TLS pavillion. Now they just need to make a few more changes:

-Clean up the disgusting tank environment (scrub all the algae, suction out the fish waste)
-Restock the diminishing fish supply (so there is actually something in the tank to look at)
-Add some new brightly colored or neon coral/rock structures(to match Finding Nemo theme)
-Change the intro movie(pre hydrolator decent) to incorporate some more of the Finding Nemo cast.

Then I think they will really be able to get the big crowds back into that pavillion. Cause if the are going to add a Finding Nemo overlay to this pavillion, then they need to take it all the way, not just a few pieces dropped in here and there.

Yup, looks better every day.

Who can't agree with you there?!

Yes, more Dories and Marlins. :)

Excellent idea. Open the Sea Cabs again and maybe even replace a window here and there with a movie screen and animate it with characters. And then have one window where once every five minutes, you see these skeletons in decaying pirate clothes walk by...:lookaroun
-Change the intro movie(pre hydrolator decent) to incorporate some more of the Finding Nemo cast.
Excellent idea. Oh, the perfect thing would be something like the Jean-Michel Cousteau "Exploring the Reef" feature on the Finding Nemo DVD. One of the funniest things I've ever seen! That would be perfect for the Living Seas attraction! More Ellen in Epcot... hmm, not such a bad idea. Maybe she'll actually come to the park to go on her rides this time! LOL

I agree, but let's not go overboard... too much of Nemo will drive people away. You need a balance.

Balance is KEY. Cousteau is hilarious, but keep that on DVD. An updated version of the preshow would be nice, but it should be kept relatively the same. This isn't "fun with Dory," this is the Living Seas. Dory & Co. can assist in telling the story effectively, but that can be (and is right now) being done without completely going all out. That would be gross. :)

Ah, well, I didn't mean to have Cousteau in the movie, I meant something like it...

The concept of having Dory, Nemo and Marlin invade the current movie... only in certain parts...

The old concept as far as I'm concerned is dead. It's been dead since they opened the gift shop. Why the heck would there be a gift shop in a sea base?!

I see nothing wrong with adding some good humor in the attraction. :)

i'm glad as well to see more intrest in The Living Seas. :) and i agree that there should be a balance between the Nemo characters (entertainment) and the learning aspect of the pavillion (science).

I agree with that as well... but let's take a look here...

The entire Seabase Alpha theme... I'm not sure it still fits in with the Nemo stuff. What do you think?

It seems a little off to me...

It's not that Seabase does or does not fit in Nemo. The concern, IMO, is does Nemo fit in Seabase?

I think so, it just has to be done in the right way.

I agree there needs to be a balance. I think they should stick to the theme of education about the ocean and its inhabitance, but why not have say Mr Ray do the intro movie, teaching about the begingings of the ocean, and then have him do a voice over for the seacabs explaining what you'll see out the "windows". then maybe use FamilyMan's idea about the video screens and have Mr. Ray swim by and be interactive like the current Crush exhibit is.

I think they can keep it educational and still incorporate some of the Finding Nemo cast. But I think we all can agree, outside of the Crush exhibit, this Pavillion in its current form is a joke. It needs some flare, and I thinkk the Finding Nemo theme is a great way to go. However I don't think they should have a lot of Regal Blue Tangs(Dory) and Percula Clowns(Marlin), they should have an overall wide variety of various sea creatures.

All in all, they can use this themeing to their advantage, however the minute they go overboard with it, it will become cheesy and loose its edge. They need to walk that fine line very carefully.
