Turn down service

Hi everyone! I need some information from those seasoned cruisers on here.

On my last cruise we had second dining (and will have again on my next cruise). We often found our stateroom made up for the night when we returned to it after the show, but before dinner. We preferred getting ready for dinner after the show in order to maximise our time for activities before it. It was kind of odd to go into a cabin that was already ready for the night and we would have preferred the bathroom to be cleaned after we got ready for the evening, not before. I always would have thought that your bedroom gets turned down while you are at dinner, not before.

So, is what we experienced the norm? Can I request my stateroom not to be turned down until dinner time?

You can request it, but it may inconvenience the host who probably tries to be done before main dinner. I'd ask them if they're still turning down rooms at that time. And if he says yes, I'd still check the first night to see if the other hosts really are still turning down that late. If they are, I'm sure they won't mind saving yours until the end.

Thanks for the info, so getting turn down before the second dinner is how it is usually done?
I think the way it works is that your room is turned down while you're at the evening show. So if you have first seating for dinner, your room is made up during the second dinner seating; if you have second seating at dinner, then your room is made up during the first seating.

So for those of you have second seating for dinner, if you go to the show, you'll come back to your room and it will already be turned down for the evening.

We usually find ours turned during early dinner! It's very rare that we stopped by the room between dinner and the show and found it unmade. Maybe we have early host/hostesses. :)
