IMO every single person should have to go through the metal detectors before entering the parks AND all of the resorts no matter how many times they have proven themselves to be trustworthy in the past. I don’t care that it interrupts my visit or anyone else’s. I’d rather be inconvenienced and safe than for some idiot to get in and do who knows what. They really need to rethink the entire security barrier and invest however much money they need to limit the risk as much as possible. I even think they should have bomb sniffing dogs/devices that check every car/van/bus that comes into guest parking areas...but I know that will probably never happen.

EDIT: my thoughts on this haven’t kept me out of the parks and i’m not sitting at home in fear. I feel safe at Disney and take my family every chance I get. But thank you to everyone who felt they needed to quote me and reassure me that it’s safe. Lol!

They do have explosive detection K9s....however,......searching that many vehicles in the Florida heat would require hundreds of K9 teams. I know a little bit about explosive detection and their K9 Unit, it cannot be done.

I Heard that a TSA like pre-check system MAY be coming to WDW security, Please take this with a grain of salt.

I will definitely take your advice.
With TSA precheck they do an extensive background check and in-person Interview.
For my Fla. AP all I had to do is prove I was a resident. That has nothing to do with safety.

Now I could see them possibly expanding the designated AP lines like they have at the touch points to possibly bag check. But not a total bypass.

It’s good to know that they at least have a K9 team. Are there devices that could be installed that would be somewhat effective? I know nothing beats a trained dog but I thought I had read a while back about progress being made in bomb sniffing devices for places like airports.

You two are assuming that anyone with an AP will be treated like someone who got the TSA Pre-Check. It's possible that this will be a case in which an AP can apply for a Security Gate Pre-Check whose criteria for being granted is more stringent than simply purchasing an AP. They may require things like a background check or having been to a Disney Park in the past two years X number of times as a sign you know what the rules are and haven't been a problem in the past.

Or, it's a rumor that will not come to pass. Pun not intended.

I wish Disney would stop with the nonsense regarding security. Random checks only and now this pre-check idea is just crazy in today’s world imo. Also imo, every single person should have to go through the metal detectors before entering the parks AND all of the resorts no matter how many times they have proven themselves to be trustworthy in the past. They really need to rethink the entire security barrier and invest however much money they need to limit the risk as much as possible. Right now it does not feel like they are doing anywhere near enough. I even think they should have bomb sniffing dogs/devices that check every car/van/bus that comes into guest parking areas...but I know that will probably never happen.

Remember PreCheck is a UPCHARGE so i'm sure this will be as well

The whole system is a bunch of smoke and mirrors anyway to give people a false sense of safety. How about the thousands of CM's that come and go through backstage entrances (and I'm not talking about having your bag checked before getting on the bus at west clock) as well as the hundreds of deliveries that take place by third party companies throughout the day.
Even at west clock they barely even check your bag. Out of the 7 months I worked at MK they checked my bag maybe 20% of the time. Even if they did check bags all did was look for a brief second in my bag and shake it. Security for cast members especially at west clock is a joke lol

I agree. I don’t see them just saying anyone with an AP can bypass. That wouldn’t make sense. I don’t see it being free, though.
