I'm so excited I found this forum!

I'm trying to decide which park to go to. Looking at going in the fall.

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks for any help!

I'm a lifelong WDW fan, but DL seems to be doing a much better job retaining the show quality standards we used to enjoy on the east coast. That, coupled with all the exciting additions to DCA, and I think DL is a can't-go-wrong proposition.

We are going back to the World in April, but I'm not sure how quickly we'll be back after that. I just can't justify the rapidly increasing cost of a rapidly decreasing experience.

We hope to visit my sister in Phoenix and drive over to Disney Land for a few days. Would love to visit the original MK that Walt built.

I think you should visit whichever one you have never seen. If you have visited both, go to DL again. Things are great over here.

I haven't been to either one so that's why I'm having such a hard time deciding!

Let's see, how long is your visit going to be and do you plan to do nothing but Disney? If you're just going for a few days, I'd go to California. If you plan on staying longer, like a week or more, and don't plan on doing anything else, I would go to Florida. At the same time, you could turn a DL trip into a SoCal trip and do other activities. I really don't think it matters.

Both are fun, but there's definitely more to do in WDW
I agree. I was in Anaheim for business last week and was lucky enough to spend my evenings at Disneyland (even bought a AP because of frequent trips). I rode everything that i wanted over 3 days (3 hours per day) so you can get a lot done quick. I like Disneyland, it is very cozy and CarsLand is unbelievable to see and ride. There is just a lot more to see and do at WDW.

I grew up going to the World. But after my first visit to DL, I was forever spoiled by it's heavier amount of offerings.

Since going to DL, every time I visit MK in Fla, I always miss the Pinocchio & Alice dark rides in FL, the much longer & more immersive POTC, with the bayou scene & extended caverns, Matterhorn bobsleds, Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin, Mr. Toad, "hidden" Disney characters inside IASW, Storybookland canal, just to name a few.

MK in Fla never felt lacking until my first DL experience (imo). Granted, it has the more impressive castle, but for me being a ride junkie, visiting DL was (and probably still is) the pinnacle in comparison.

Another thing to consider, OP. Are you big on rides, or do you not really care? As a whole, WDW has more attractions, but the Disneyland Resort has more rides in Disneyland and California Adventure than WDW has in the four parks.

I haven't been to DL in awhile. However, IMHO, WDW is a much more immersive and all-around better experience than DL. I know DL has some great rides now, but I put DL in the same boat as any other theme park because you go for a day and then reality sets back in as you leave the park because it is not secluded like WDW. I enjoy the seclusion of WDW.

I've done world all my life, went to DL this past year and was let down. The moment you walk into MK and see that castle, it's a wow moment. I was saddened by the view from main street at DL.

I know its original and that was cool, but it was still a letdown inside.

Not sure when you are planning on going in the fall, but we usually go there when they are doing the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in large part because the kids like to dress up and the weather is much better than when we have done it at WDW. Wearing a costume in Florida is hot as we found out our last trip there during October a few years back... I thought we might die from heat stroke by the end of the day.

Now, be warned that the weather isn't always predictable in DL. We have been there on one fall trip where it was a misty rainy day every day we were there, not one of the best of trips because it was rather cold when you were in the rain.

The upside of DL vs WDW is that they do revamp the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain just for Halloween... The down side is that the Halloween parade at WDW is better than the one at DL... So you need to decide what is your preference.

The other downside to DL is that they are likely to have 1 or 2 of the main rides down for refurb. In the last 3 years of going in fall they had rides that we wanted down on every trip and you will have no idea what is going to be down or up ahead of time. While WDW is pretty good about letting you know well in advance DL isn't and refurbs can and often change, sometimes at the last minute.
