Did anything good come out of Hollywood in the late 70's except Star Wars?
Well that is the time the bearded wonders and the film renaissance were early on and changing things in the American Filmaking climate.

Alien is considered pretty darn successful/good critically and commercially.
A lot of comedies like The Jerk and Animal House.

People love Grease. Not my thing but apparently it is good.

Some pretty good things considering the recession's effects were taking hold and the old generation was dying off.

Alien gets a 👍

I was sort of being sarcastic to a degree. To a degree.

I have felt and believed and said for years now that Disney is wanting to be a luxury vacation destination. They are not interested in families that have to save or budget for their trips, they want the people who have plenty of money to spend freely.
They do.

But there is nothing they offer that is worth for the premium that they charge. It’s a case where the mouse wants your $, your it as premium and then provide nothing as premium. It’s as if they feel that the regular offering of the parks themselves are enough.

For me it’s “you’re just like every other theme park out there, you just have a lot of IP and VERY good IP lawyers.

TLDR? They don’t have anything to offer premium but want people to pay premium prices. Those of us who would consider premium if worth it? Pass.

LOL that's called hyperbole. It's a publicly traded company, it's run by people who have been hired to run the company
Yea, but we are not talking about personalities, we are talking about principles of operating a specific business and how it became the basis for what it is today. More of a philosophy of how to operate a theme park. Who is running it is irrelevant it is the company mission that counts. What we have today is today's mentality which to me is a short term profitability and short term health. Walt's was a long term and is still the system that current management tells everyone they are getting, but they are not. It is hyperbole, but even hyperbole should be an exaggeration of something that exists, not a misinformation about something that no longer is part of the Disney plan. The much aligned commercial of the 7 Dwarfs Mine train speeding by, is hyperbole. Exaggerating something that actually exists. What is being dished out now is making a promise about something that no longer exists. That's not hyperbole that is straight out fabrication.

These statements are contradictory. The IP is a large part of why they feel they're able to charge a premium. They're the only ones who can offer it, so whether or not you're willing to pay could depend entirely on the IP they control. There are more than enough folks obsessed with princesses, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars to sustain them regardless of other benefits. And you'd better believe there are people out there who fill their basements with overpriced light sabers and other memorabilia even as they flounder for cash to pay for the basics. They're the same ones who will pay for the parks without heeding the potentially problematic price point.

Hmmmm, that’s debatable.

It’s a “Gateway” resort, just outside WDW property. And all 3rd party owned and operated. Much like the Disney Springs resorts. If they want onsite perks they’ll have to pay for the privilege.

Personally I consider onsite to be the WDW owned and operated resorts plus Shades of Green and the Swolphin.
