What has DIsney done in the past when there has been a Hurricane or Tropical Storm that is projected to bring nasty weather to the area? Rain or Shine event?

Got to love hurricane season! Being a native Floridian currently in the "Cone of Uncertainty" or "Cone of Destruction", whichever you choose to call it can be a bit unnerving. However, it doesn't look like it will progress past a Cat 1. If it really hits Palm Beach like predicted, the weather in the World would probably be beautiful. I wonder if I can convince the hubby to "evacuate" to the world this weekend.

We're heading down Saturday-Wednesday, I sure hope this thing dissipates! Either way, we have our ponchos ready and a "Rainy Day - Resort Hopping Plan B", not much else you can do I guess
You know one of the best trips we took had a day of just constant rain and flooding around the parks but it was one of the most memorable days. We were at Epcot and it was perfect, the lines were shorter, we ran from country to country and popped our heads in each of the shops, it was a fun time (granted we had to throw out our shoes after this trip haha)

Also, all but 1 of our FPs are indoor attractions, surely they don't close the indoor rides if its raining....do they?
I would not worry too much. The track seems to keep getting revised toward a more northerly track. I have a feeling this thing will just skirt the coast.

Rain has zero effect on indoor attractions. The only thing that could hurt them is a loss in power which is not unheard of, but pretty rare.

Indoor attractions do not close for rain. However in some cases during severe weather indoor attractions are forced to close temporarily as they become rain shelter for guests who can't or won't exit. This happens often with certain attractions during severe summer rain storms. Also with a few exceptions even outdoor attractions do not close for rain. Almost all will continue operation in most rain. It is electrical activity in the vicinity that necessitates closure.

The last storm to impact the theme park areas was Tropical Storm ISAAC in late August 2012, although effects were limited to sustained rainfall and strong gusty winds.

The last time the parks were closed due to weather was in late October 2005, with Magic Kingdom and Epcot having delayed openings at 1pm, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios and the water parks remaining closed for the entire day.

Thanks for the history. Amazing that there really hasn't been any disruption to the parks because of weather.

We have been very fortunate over the years on our trips, with only two total days where it has rained, but not the entire day even. I feel bad for anyone whose trip would be affected by the weather.

But not during Charley, Frances, Jeanne in 2004? (Same year as Ivan but that was in the Panhandle).
