You know one of the best trips we took had a day of just constant rain and flooding around the parks but it was one of the most memorable days. We were at Epcot and it was perfect, the lines were shorter, we ran from country to country and popped our heads in each of the shops, it was a fun time (granted we had to throw out our shoes after this trip haha)We're heading down Saturday-Wednesday, I sure hope this thing dissipates! Either way, we have our ponchos ready and a "Rainy Day - Resort Hopping Plan B", not much else you can do I guess
It depends on the severity of the storm. If the storm is strong enough they have closed the parks for the day or for partial days. What has DIsney done in the past when there has been a Hurricane or Tropical Storm that is projected to bring nasty weather to the area? Rain or Shine event?
I would not worry too much. The track seems to keep getting revised toward a more northerly track. I have a feeling this thing will just skirt the coast. We're heading down Saturday-Wednesday, I sure hope this thing dissipates! Also, all but 1 of our FPs are indoor attractions, surely they don't close the indoor rides if its raining....do they?
Indoor attractions do not close for rain. However in some cases during severe weather indoor attractions are forced to close temporarily as they become rain shelter for guests who can't or won't exit. This happens often with certain attractions during severe summer rain storms. Also with a few exceptions even outdoor attractions do not close for rain. Almost all will continue operation in most rain. It is electrical activity in the vicinity that necessitates closure. We're heading down Saturday-Wednesday, I sure hope this thing dissipates! Thanks for the history. Amazing that there really hasn't been any disruption to the parks because of weather. The last storm to impact the theme park areas was Tropical Storm ISAAC in late August 2012, although effects were limited to sustained rainfall and strong gusty winds.
The last time the parks were closed due to weather was in late October 2005, with Magic Kingdom and Epcot having delayed openings at 1pm, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios and the water parks remaining closed for the entire day.
Nothing yet, but that could change at any time.Anyone know if an anything is coming behind Erika? Have a cruise planned for the 5th!
