RAIN, RAIN, RAIN...now the storm is headed towards Jacsonville, FL...the AMC movies at Downtown Disney was packed in the AM, cheaper prices before Noon. Storm will bring rains most of the week, we always have a Plan B when we're on vacation anywhere but most of all make the most out of it.

Looks like the forecasted track of the storm has changed again... now expected to head east over the Florida peninsula.

I can tell you that the Jacksonville area got HAMMERED overnight. I had water in my yard 5-6 feet from the street (suburban JAX, south and west of the city), and a good 8" of water in the street. The drainage ditches along the roads are full enough that if we get the additional 3-6 inches that is predicted over the next couple of days, those roads will become difficult to drive - you won't be able to tell where the road ends and the ditch starts.
Quite a mess this is actually. Funny part is the sun is shining right now....but more rain is on the way.

Any photos of the parks? I thought I saw one on Facebook from MK, but when I went back to click on it, it was gone.
There isn't really much to see. There is consistent rain, but nothing extreme from all accounts. Everywhere is just basically wet.

It has been interesting up here in Jax for the last few days. We are seeing a good bit of localized flooding in all of the usual places as well as a good number of not so usual places. The lake in my back yard has risen a few feet since Friday and it looks like it will go up a couple more before it is all over with. Of course the local news crews are out filming every backed up storm drain and retention pond in town to insure that weather takes up at least 45 minutes of the nightly news.

Actually, yes...but a bit north of it. Last night wasn't anywhere near as bad...but the creek (as you know) is at it's 4th highest flood stage in recorded history - the worst was 25' in 1919, and in this case we are at 22.52'.
Maybe all of this will help fill some of the lakes that have gotten so low down in Keystone Heights!
Good to hear that you are still somewhat dry.
I'll never forget the first time I saw some of the dry lakes in Keystone. The boat docks that go out into a grass fields are so post apocalyptic. There was a rumor/urban legend going around that while the drought had contributed to the low lakes the real culprit was a mining accident that essentially pulled the drain plug on them. Do you know if there was any truth to that?

Mining accident....no; however, there is some mining in the area, and the water they take from the aquifer does probably contribute to the lower lake water levels. Interestingly enough, there is another reason, a Disney related reason. The population growth in central Florida - which is at least partially due to Disney - has lowered the level of the aquifer - and the lakes in Keystone are mostly fed by the Florida aquifer...so, while not Disney's fault, it is Disney related!

Hello from Pop Century Resort. We got here Sunday under VERY rainy conditions. The traffic along I-10 in the panhandle started before Tallahassee and continued all the way to Toll 429, where it dropped off considerably. Not sure whether the heavy traffic was because of the storm, but it made road conditions not-easy to deal with. The spray from the wet pavement made visibility very poor in places where the pavement was not made for heavy rains.
We hit MK in the evening on Sunday because they were open later for on-site folks. It was a wet night, usually just a drizzle at that point. The previous poster was exactly right about poncho sales. Disney is doing a huge amount of business with those. We bought 2 though we had purchased cheap ones at Target before we left home. Disney's are a little heavier-duty than ours; our 98c specials were only expected for use on wet rides. The rains kept the crowds down there that evening so that in 3 hours we rode a bunch of things: People Mover and Carousel of Progress while waiting for our Space Mountain fast pass (45 minute wait otherwise), Space Mountain, Stitch's Great Escape (sorry, didn't care for that one), Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. It was a parallel universe for us, comparing to DL.
Monday was spent for the most part at Epcot. It was cloudy, and it rained here and there. Poncho on, poncho off, poncho on, but mostly off! It rained while we were in line for Spaceship Earth, but thankfully we were under cover. While we were at Bistro for dinner, it POURED. I was afraid that they would cancel Illuminations like MSEP had been canceled at MK on Sunday evening! But it only lasted a short time, and the fireworks show went off without a hitch.
Today we were at Universal's Harry Potter World (Islands of Adventure). We managed to sneak in two rides (Dragon Challenge and Forbidden Journey) before the rain squalls started. It would downpour, then the sun would come out and we would be in a sauna. That kept repeating itself all day. BTW, while we loved HPW at IOA, we couldn't wait to get back to Disney. Could not believe what Universal wanted for the Express Pass, and the lines were all horrendously long.

I have been fallowing the Storm on the weather channel and weather.com seen yesterday. I hope that this storm goes out to sea sometime soon so the 4th of July fireworks happen at the Disney world resort next Tuesday and Wednesday night. I have been to the parks when there was a storm near the parks when it would rain off and on during the day at the parks. The last time I was at the Disney world resort and Universal was in the summer of 2008 with my family and it would rain sometimes in the day and not at night. I have never been to the Disney world resort during a Tropical storm or a Hurricane but I have been there when there was bad thunderstorms at the parks alot of times in the summers seen I was really young. I hope that everyone at the park is safe and stays safe during this tropical storm my aunt lives in Florida near Tampa and she said it is raining alot but her basement is not flooded yet and I hope that does not happen.

Debby is now forecasted to head off the Florida peninsula and into the Atlantic later tomorrow, so shouldn't be any issues from this storm next week.
I am glad that the tropical storm is now going to go out into the Atlantic later tomorrow and I am also glad that there will not be any issues next week from this storm and that the 4th of July fireworks will be able to happen at the Disney world resort next week on Tuesday and Wednesday night next week.

Update: Wednesday this week (27th) it rained off and on all morning. In the afternoon, the sun came out and it felt like a sauna! We were at AK for the first few hours that morning. Though it was a bit rainy here and there, we were still able to do the Kilimanjaro Safari and RPW. For us, AK was like going to the San Diego Zoo at times, or the San Diego Wild Animal Park (now known as the Safari Park). Come to find out from a Conservationist, Disney was taught by the best how to run an animal park: one of the main execs came from our Zoo!
Everest was running all day on Wednesday. When we got on it, it ran like a champ, but NO Yeti. Just the shadowy one.
In the evening it was hot and humid, but it cooled off considerably as the evening wore on. MK decided to run the MSEP and Wishes. We sat up on the Main Street Train Station porch to watch. (BTW, I have never in my recent years, waited in line to ride the train at DL Anaheim. I had to wait in the MK! Then was terrifically disappointed that there is no Tomorrowland station????)
Thursday (28th) was like the storm had never existed. Hubby and I went to the MK without our umbrellas or ponchos (and stayed dry). Big Thunder was STILL not running, and what has the MK done to our beloved Small World ride?! The facade was not nearly so pretty at MK as it is in CA! We went from there to DHS and it stayed sunny and hot -- we rode several rides and watched several shows. My favorite was the Beauty and the Beast.
Anyway, Tropical Storm Debby in Florida is now a memory at WDW. The effects are still mounting with the floods in the rest of the state. We have moved on, as well.
