Tropical Storm Andrea closes Blizzard Beach for today - DisneyQuest is at capacity

I was wondering that myself.

A light rain has started here (south GA) and it's only going to get heavier. No tornado watches yet though. Hope all goes well down there. On the bright side, I bet crowds are light today!

what i dont understand is that they close 1 of 2 water parks. Is there a reason why?
They typically attempt to keep at least one park open wherever possible. Typhoon is usually the one to remain open in these cases, so perhaps it is better equipped to deal with storms should they become an issue when guests are still present.

ok thanks! I would hope not many people are out today. if also remember correctly isnt there a large tall mountain looking thing in blizzard beach? that might also be a reason due to height and lighting.

Ok, now I'm curious. Has WDW ever been hit by a tornado before? Have they closed down due to storms? Or do they just shut down the 'big' rides and let everyone get soaked?

funny thing is that people still pay to get into the water parks during to get wet when the rest of the area gets it for free

Not all storms carry the risk of tornados that this one seems to be carrying.

I have no idea why they'd shut down Blizzard and nothing else. Location? The fact that Typhoon handles crowds better? No idea.

Praying for all those in Florida who may be affected...and hoping my house, which I can't see (since im out of state) doesn't get torn up.

Everything at blizzard beach seems to be more open and upwards, compared to Typhoon lagoon that is rather surrounded by tropical vegetation and the like, so I can only assume BB's elevation has something to do with its easier closure.
