I live in the Florida Big Bend. Either track, we will get hit, since we are in the middle between Apalachicola and further east, the current two landfall projections. :(

Weather Channel just said that we may experience winds similar to Kate in 1985. I was without power for a week after Kate.

And we leave Friday for a holiday weekend at Universal. Sure hope the storm had blown through by then, I haven't lost power and no trees have fallen on the house. *fingers crossed*

I was in preparation mode for a trip to Uni. Now I'm in preparation mode for Hermine.... :(

We're flying in from the UK on Thursday. We've heard nothing from our airline about a change of schedule. We're due to land at Orlando Intl at 6.30pm. Any thoughts?
Extrapolating from the most current NHC "cone" chart, it looks like it will make landfall, well north of Orlando, at about 1:00 AM on Friday. Weather at your scheduled time of landing will really depend on how much rain it's pushing in front of it.

Great advice and good story. Except! Tropical Storm Faye was 2008, so it would have been SpectroMagic and not MSEP that was cancelled during your trip. ;)

I'm driving down to WDW from Delaware early Friday morning...hoping to not run into too much trouble with this storm, especially on I-95 along the east coast of GA and FL...
Hi @rodserling27! Thank you so much for the compliment! I never got to see SpectroMagic, so that one still hurts a little bit. LOL.

And now, MSEP is going away! So, at least you get to see it one last time. I imagine that MSEP will be super crowded just like Osborne Lights last year, so I would totally make this a priority and be sure to see the first showing if there are two. My favorite spot is over in Frontierland, we lucked out and snagged a great seat at one of the CS restaurants right on the curb.

I can't believe you are driving all the way from Deleware! That sounds like an awesome road trip, though and I hope you don't run into the storm. Anyway, have a safe and fun vacation at Disney World. I hope you report back, too.

I live in the Big Bend too. 70 mph winds tonight. Ugh. I'm leaving Saturday for WDW. Looks like WDW will be spared but I hope I don't run into too much of a mess in my drive down. (i.e. I realize the storm will be in my rear view mirror as it continues northeast. Just hoping for no blocked roads or accidents, etc.) I'm now thinking the earlier Saturday I leave, the better. I have plans for MK Saturday night. Better build in as much lead/contingency time as possible for the drive.

In what world? Because the radar literally showed a rotating thunderstorm over the entire property about 9:00pm

Hey neighbor

Agree the radar looked ominous all evening.

But I sat on my back patio and watched and heard fireworks from both DHS and Epcot. No bad weather anywhere close.

Still outside now. Typical summer night. Hot humid and no trace of a breeze.

Yea there was a tornado near magic kingdom, and at around 850 there was a massive downpour. Naturally they didn't even go 101.... (Safe-d begins with who?)
