Alright I just got back from my trip and here is my take:
Positives:
Grand Californian- The hotel was AMAZING, not really for room quality but for location. It was maybe a 300 yard walk.

POTC- Blows Florida's version away.

Haunted Mansion- Haven't seen WDW's new one so I give edge to DL

Big Thunder- I thought it might be a better ride than in WDW

Golden Horseshoe- Won a Premium seat from Dream Squad and only went to the shoe because of that. It was great, the lead guy reminds me of Don Knotts.

Indiana Jones Chase- Really cool little show I enjoyed in Adventureland.

climate- Not humid and 70-75:D

Size- Less Walking=happier person:)

Negatives:

Breakdowns-
Disneyland needs a major refurb or something along those lines. In the three days I was there Indy was down for 2, Pirates down for 1, GRR for 1, TOT for 1/2 a day and Splash Mountain down on and off for a couple days.

Customer Service- While mostly it was up to par we had a few, "incidents" that really were not at all Disney like. Probably happens at WDW too but we have never encountered this level there.

Grad Night-
To my dismay I was not informed when booking that Grad Night was causing the park to close early. Also some of the kids were spitting over railings on Indy until I informed them they need to knock it off. And throwing coins over the railing of the Splash Queue.

Overall it was a great trip but just not as good as WDW. I have pics and some more stuff that I will post after I get some sleep.:snore::snore::wave:

Glad you had a nice trip!

It's funny you say DL needs some refurbs when WDW is the one that needs them most. The rides you listed weren't down for the entire day, right? They opened up later on in the day?

Something is definitely wrong with Indy. It needs to go down for a nice, long refurb. It breaks down on a daily basis. A few days ago, they closed it down and some sites said it was down till Sept. I'm really hoping they decide to close it to work on it.

I agree that DL's walking distances are a HUGE advantage over WDW, along with the vast majority of the weather.
PotC absolutely blows WDW's away, though WDW's HM is probably better now that it's been refurbished (though I like DL's facade better). And BTW, BTMRR is a mirror of WDW's and is the same size, so it's virtually the same though some scenery is different.

Can't wait to see pics!

Sounds like you had a fun trip. I visited DL for the first time last November, and most of your observations were similar to mine. I never had any problems with customer service though. All of the cast members we encountered were on par with WDW's.

Indy also broke down at one point during my trip, I guess it has frequent problems, as Nicole was saying.

I visited in May. I LOVED the DLR. Was quite happy with the layout. Loved being able to just walk to both parks and Downtown Disney. I realize it's not feasible in Florida but I wish things were closer.

POTC -- disagree. It's longer, has a few more scenes, two more drops, but overall, the same. I honestly wasn't all that impressed.

Haunted Mansion -- It was shorter, it seemed. WDW's is FAR better.

Big Thunder Mountail Railroad -- I like their queue theming better but overall, pretty much the same.

Space Mountain -- BLOWS WDW's away, hands down. I refuse to ride WDW's Space Mountain but would ride DL's anyday.

Peter Pan/Snow White/Star Tours -- The same

Enchanted Tiki Room -- MUCH prefer the original, which is what DL offers.

Finding Nemo Subs -- Loved riding them

Matterhorn -- Fun but Everest is better

Disney California Adventure was a fun park. Loved the music. The theming is pretty detailed and it had a lot of original stuff but it could use a makeover. It just lacks SOMETHING. Not sure what.

I liked the look of Frontierland much more than WDW's. Tomorrowland was a hot mess, no real theming or color. Adventureland was very compact but seemed to capture the feel of Adventureland that WDW kind of lacks. Fantasyland seemed more open and I like their theming better than the "faire" theming of WDW. I prefer DL's Toontown, also.

I never had a problem with rides being down, just lucky I suppose, lol!

Wow! Comparing the Matterhorn to Everest?!
I think both are pretty groundbreaking. Everest has that amazing Yeti, but the Matterhorn has history (being the first steel tracked roller coaster).

I do see where you're coming from though as far as the crowds. Disneyland has a very different audience than WDW. In WDW, you're dealing LARGELY with people who fly in and stay and make this their big trip. There are plenty of annual passholders, but I get the feeling that you get more tourists than locals. Disneyland is kind of reversed. You get a large crowd of locals. In the summer time, I've seen plenty of parents buy their teenagers annual passes, and then drop them off (often unsupervised) at the parks for the day to be entertained. Teenagers get bored and often feel the need to push the limits and that can make other guests rather uncomfortable. Grad night times are my LEAST favorite times to go.

I still have the pictures but since I got home I still haven't had a chance to gather myself. They're not much but just some shots of the different Mountains and a few other things I found (I was so excited when I spotted the entrances to DL dream suite and Club 33):ROFLOL:I lost a lot of pictures because it seems that my camera failed me in the dark out there. So I guess I have to figure that one out and get that issue fixed up before my next trip anywhere.
