Trip with another family

I've used the magic band and fast pass plus on my last trip in June of 2013. It was easy for us, because though we travelled with others, my family of 4 made all our plans together and did everything together.

This coming June, we are heading to WDW with another family joining us. They have kids younger than mine who might not want to ride all the rides my family does...and vice versa. Having said that, we plan on taking this trip WITH THEM....so we don't want to get in the park and say goodbye just because we all have different fast passes all over the place.

What's the best way to handle that? We want to share a lot of fast passes...I know I can invite them to connect with us through the WDW website....if I'm in charge of making all the fast passes (they're WDW rookies), can they opt out of the ones they don't want?

Any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Once your reservations are linked together, you can make fastpasses for everyone. You can choose which guests to include on each fastpass ~ for example, all the older kids for Space Mountain, while the younger ones (plus an adult of course) for Peter Pan. You can also choose the times so that both groups can be off using their fastpasses during the same hour so that you can reconnect as a big group to continue your touring/meals together.

Have fun!

Ok, we actually aren't staying under the same reservation....we'll be at OKW and they'll be at POFQ. Does that matter??

Thanks again for your help!

You do not need to be staying at the same resort...sorry for the confusion...I meant for you to link them to your "Friends and Family" list (and they do the same) so that you can make fastpass selections together.

My suggestion for handling FP+ for groups where the whole group will be doing most FP+ choices together but occasionally some may choose to do other stuff is to first schedule the ENTIRE group for all the same FP+ choices. For times where you'll split up for a FP+, start by booking the harder-to-get FP+ of the two options. Then you can go back and edit that one for those who need it.

Example:
Everyone wants to do Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion, but some will want to ride Peter Pan while others ride Space Mountain.
Since Pan is the harder of the two options to book (due to lower capacity) book everyone in the group for Splash, Mansion and Pan. Then go in and use "Change Experience" to change Pan to Space Mountain for those who need it. If you're lucky you'll find a time that is close to the Pan time so you can split up, ride your rides, and then meet back up again afterward.

That's exactly how I do it.

Thanks again for the help from all of you.

So I need to connect with my friends...my family and I are all connected already from previous trips.

Do I add them saying, "i will manage all the plans...?" or just add them as "i will invite this friend to make plans with me..."

I want to make sure we're able to get fastpasses to the attractions we'll all want to ride...but I don't want to be some sort of vacation dictator either.

If I make a fastpass reservation inviting them to it...how long do they have to accept that invitation before Disney kicks the fastpasses back to everyone else?

Have you tried doing your fp selections yet? I'm wondering because last year I traveled with 4 households (4 kids total under 13) and we all stayed on site and were able to do our selections together. This year I'm traveling with one of those same households and either I can make plans for everyone except her 8 y/o or she can do everyone's except for my 11 y/o. Very frustrating. Was wondering how things went for you.
