Trip Report: SAT 1

Ok, I know, not really a trip report, but kinda like one. Today I took my first SAT 1's, and needless to say, them and a Disney theme park actually are very similar, you get up early in the morning, wait in line once, then leave 3-4 hours latter, gee, kinda like Animal Kingdom!

Ok, here we go.

6:45 am
I awake to my dad. Fun

7:15 am
I awak to my mom. Funner.

7:45 am
Leave while my mom is saying how late I am, great, like I need stress.

8:05 am
I arrive 5 minutes after the doors open, to find a line out of building 10, infront of the office, and down. Incase you are wondering, I go to a campus style school. Ok, anyway, I wait in line for my turn. It's cold and raining. Really fun..

8:10 am
After waiting in line for just a little while, I realize how efficent they are. Once I get to the head, I find that I am directed to one of three lines, hmmm.... that's familiar. Then I'm told to go into a room after I reach the end of that line... really familiar. Now all we need is Garay Sinese to come and give the test and we'll be all set.

8:30am
Almost time to start. We go through the 'no eating, drinking, smoking, flash photograpy, or video cameras' speal and we are off. I have an 'accomidation' where I get more time on the test. Fun.

Overalll:
Not as hard as I thought it would be, but still challangeing. Many questions I skipped becaues of wierd wording and just because they were so darn hard! Take this note down for those who will take it in the future: know your algebra and geometry well for math, know your root words and meanings for vocab section.

And you should know this!!!

Never leave any blank. As I remember, you don't lose any, or as much credit, if you fill it in with a guess. You loose the most with a blank answer.

Is this right, or am I nuts, and totally forgetful after taking the test almost 4 years ago.

I took those things like 4 times, my first time when I was in 8th grade I think, ugh!

And right from the tests, I always remember having to run to practice, b/c God forbid we cancelled on SAT day.

Yea.. I had to take them today too... I think I did alright on the math sections.. but those verbal sections are a dousy for me. haha... this was my second time taking them. I'm def. not a big fan of them.. they're almost as bad as the Pennsylvania State Assesments.. blah.

and Don... I thought it was better to not answer a question then to guess and get it wrong? Hmph... :veryconfu

My sister took them today too.

I have to take a test next week that is similar to the ACT that is required to get into the school of education. I am not looking forward to that...

Yeah, you're crazy. If you get it wrong, it hurts you 1/4 of a point, if you get it right, it helps one point, leave it blank and it dosn't hurt nor help.

OK, thanks guys.

I knew there were "specific" point values. But it isn't too good to leave too many blank. I had private sessions, and my instructor alloted me 3-4 per section to skip as I remember.

Thanks for correcting me.

It varies on the question, and the back of the booklet is pretty ambiguous. It says that "you lose a fraction of a point for an incorrect response". The real breakdown is like this:

Regular multiple chioce: Correct: +1, Incorrect -.25, Blank: +/-0
Quantitative Comparison (Math): Correct: +1, Incorrect -1/3, Blank +/-0
Student-Produced Response (Math): Correct +1, Incorrect +/-0, Blank +/-0

If anyone needs tutoring for the October test, let me know, i'd be happy to help out
