Pre-Trip Trip Report IV: A New Hope

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

A high school kid noticed a classmate sitting behind him was wearing an Empire Strikes Back shirt and thought she must be pretty cool.

Neither knew then that nearly 2 decades later they would still be together and that the biggest argument in their relationship would be whether Empire or Jedi is the better movie.

Although they had a mutual love of Star Wars, the cool girl had an additional hobby of going to Disney World that her fellow didn’t participate in.

Until now.

(And by now I mean February.)

More details to follow once I have the time off of work more officially secured.

Today was a good mail day.

DH and I have been opposite shifts this week. I got the mail before I left for work and left it out for DH to see.

He started our break time phone conversation with “I saw those magic bracelets arrived today. That’s exciting I guess.”

lol. I’ll take it.

19 days out

I have 12 more work shifts, a mini trip to my in-law’s, and 4 “free” days.

Recently found out that my bro is having minor surgery this week. We all know it won’t be a big deal but it still has our family on edge.

More than glad to spend one of those free days with him.

The in-law visit should be ok. Hopefully talk of DH’s job change will overpower any news/politics talk. I’m more concerned about the high flu activity levels where they are.

This feels like a bit of déjà vu with rolling the illness dice so close to a Disney trip.

C’mon immune system. Remember your training.

Additionally the next couple weeks at work are going to wild. Some big changes to work flow are happening- with little training or communication to staff.

This is all to say I’ve reached the pretrip point where I am more stressed than excited. I guess that’s a sign that I need this vacation.

Lil bro’s surgery went well. He joked he is now one step closer to Iron Man status due his metal upgraded bones.

(I would have went with a Wolverine reference myself. )

Doggo care is now secured (aka my parents know about the trip). I miss her already.

I got guilted into covering a sick call this weekend at work. on a surprise double shift.

The upside was that it was unplanned overtime money:

Still gearing up for all of the craziness at my work this week. I got some wine tonight and told DH that some of it was for tonight and the rest of it was for Tuesday night- the first day all of the changes go into effect.

12 days til the trip. Almost to single digits.

I was trying to withhold judgement of my work changes until I fully experienced it today.

Well.

Finally got to take my lunch break 7 hours into my 8 hour shift. The most positive thing I can say is that at least the shift went by fast.

I’m real thankful I have this trip coming up soon.

In-law visit is complete. Not too much drama. Nieces are even more adorable than the last time I saw them.

There was much talk of getting me to commit to going to Disney with them in May.

What they heard:

Doggo was very pleased with her belated Christmas gift.

Now that we’re home and 2 sleeps away from Disney DH is starting to get more excited which is in turn getting me more excited about the trip.

Today’s the day! Our flight leaves in about 10 hours. I’ve never started a vacation with an afternoon flight. So far seems like a much more chill start to a trip than a pre-dawn start.

Since DH is going with me (and the whole point of the trip is to spend time with him) I won’t be doing a live TR.

I will likely check in here on occasion but will do the detailed TR when we return.

Yes. This weekend. I am 90% confident that DH is up for a meet up. Likely not Saturday but Sunday or beyond would work.
