trip report for 10 days at wdw

hi, we just got back from our first trip from wdw . we arrived at dw sat morning april 8th.we had a 10 day stay with park hopper, water parks and more and dining plan at pop century. we stayed in the 60's facing hour glass lake. Just a warning this is a long trip :snore: .so when we arrived after 11 hour drive we checked into to pop century resort then headed to epcot. We rode test track which was awesome , soaring was amazing , we also rode space ship earth and all the rides and stuff in epcot. we ate dinner at lecelliar. we have the beef kabobs and chedder cheese soup for appetizers. they were both wonderful.i had the filet mignion(sp). my meat was tough. hubby had the other steak on the menu and it was wonderful.yes it tried a bite of it all:lol: . we watched illuminations which was wonderful but not my favorite out of all the night shows.more about that later.oh yeah we had lunch at sunshine seasons , i had a turkey sandwich and hubby had black forest ham sandwich. kids had mac and cheese . the sandwiches were good but kids complained that the mac wasn't that good.

the following day we went to mgm . we did the playhouse disney show, the backlot tour , the beauty and the beast show and at at the backlot place . the food was discusting and the people working there were very rude.I
would not go there again. we went back to the hotel early that day to get ready for dinner. dinner was at 1900 park fare cinderellas gala feast. the food was very good. the characters were great and the resterant was decorated beautifully. the whole grand floridian is beautiful.we took a ferry over to the magic kingdom for our first look around . we saw wishes and went back to the room for rest.

the following day we went to animal kingdom. we watched its tough to be a bug, looked around, we on kali river rapids, rode dinosaur which were all really cool. then we ate lunch at flame tree bbq. i liked the food alot compared to other lunches offered at dw on the dining plan. i would reccomend it to anyone. that night we headed over to chef mickeys. the kids had a great time but the food needed a lot of help.we made 2 reservations for this trip because we expected a big buffet with great food . :( our ressies were for easter.

finally we went to magic kingdom. it took us 3 days to do main part of magic kingdom. this is by far my favorite park. i rode space mt by my self as the rest of my family was too scared. we rode splash mt together but didnt' get time to see the day parade or ride big thunder , or cinderellarbration. we did everything else.

i wanted to go back and ride mission space since hubby rode with my 8 year old but i didn't get a chance too because it was closed at this time because of the woman dying on it. :( btw i just want to say our thoughts and :( prayers are with her family.

we also had dinner at garden grill which wasnt' that good at all.
then dinner at liberty tree, it was good .
we had dinner at whispering canyon was great.i really loved it.

ok to shorten this i have skipped some stuff but i have to say ohana's was wonderful, omg that turkey dipped in that sweet sauce was amazing. i also got a lapu lapu , its an alchoholic bev inside of a pineapple. it was very good. that only drink i had the whole time.i tried to get back into ohanas before we left but they were full .

things i hated the most were the bus service. we waited for a bus for 1 1/2 hrs latetime , then 2 days later we waited for 45 min. i talked to john parsons mananger of bus service at pop and he gave us breakfast at pop to make up for it and 2 no strings attached cards.i used one toride soaring again and didn't even bother with the other because the cm were giving us a hard time every time it came up so i gave up.

finally the night before we left we went to chef mickeys and the waitress took our room key to take off dining credits. when she brought it back it we just put it away didnt' even look at it . when we got back to our room the card wouldn't work nd we noticed it wasn't ours. it took hubby til the next moring to get it fixed. i am not happy with pop at all. the rooms were wonderful clean and nice. but the people treat you like you are sub standard because you aren't paying hundreds a night to stay at the nicer hotels. i counted and the animal kingdom lodged got 5 buses to our 1 buson average . i dont' know that i will ever return to disney . i had such high standards and they were no where near fulfilled. i will hve to cool off before i would even consider it .anyway will try to post pics and write more later.thanks for listening.

I am sorry that your experience was not to your liking. I personally have heard nothing but good things about Pop Century (about 95% of the time)...Disney is a wonderful place, and you must have felt a little magic while you were there.

Again, I hope you do decide to come back to Disney World. Just, perhaps stay in a moderate hotel next time, if you desire more class.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with Pop. We have stayed there twice, Sept 04 for 2 nights, and Sept 05 for 4 nights. Both times we had great service and were treated well by cast members.

Neither time did we have problems with the bus system either. I think the longest we waited one day was at Epcot, took about 20 minutes for a bus to come.

I know that Easter is a busier time, so that could have been part of the bus issue.

Your right about the sub par treatment of value resort guests. Obviously, you aren't going to get treated as well as the deluxe guest, that's just to be expected. But your spot on with the bus situation. All star resorts are even worse because you have to make stops at all 3 locations. It's true about the buses for deluxe resort guests. I noticed the same thing when I was there in Oct. It would take me well over an hour to get anywhere in Disney from the All Star. They need to do something to fix that. It's clear that guests are starting to get fed up.
