Trip Report a la Food!

With all the gnashing of teeth about the DDP, I thought I would post a quick report of our October 2007 trip with pics regarding the food that we got to enjoy because of this plan!

First night of arrival SAT 9/29 we went to DTD for my birthday to eat the Earthquake at Ghiraldi's that so many of you members recommended.....and it was Great! :slurp:
Earthquake-2.jpg

We wiped it out (2 adults, and DD10 & DD7) but I was full!

Next day SUN 9/30 we hung out at the resort and then headed over to MK to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern before MNSSHP started. My girls wanted to make their own costumes for this years party)

The food was great as always and Chip actually walked over behind my girls and BURPed really loud and my girls were looking around hoping people did not think it was them...it was quite funny!

The next morning MON 10/1 we tried Chef Mickey's for Breakfast and that now has become a must do for us. It was excellent! (Sorry no pictures of food - too busy eating) Then that night we went to Ohanas. This was our second trip and when we went a couple of years ago the girls did not like it, but my wife and I did, so we gave them a drink and the whole night went great!

We ordered them with no alcohol, but they were in a great mood all night!

Also check out the spread on the table! Lots of food...

Next day TUE 10/2 was Garden Grill at Epcot. Our first time here as well. It was ok but not a place we will probably return to. But the girls desserts were Build your own cupcake!

WED 10/3 we went back to Tony's (My wife likes it because of the Lady and the Tramp setting and the food is pretty good. We also had a great server as well. Again here are some desserts, how pretty...I finally was able to break into mine!

I had steak and my wife had spagetti and the girls also had pasta.

THU 10/5 we went over to AK and ate PizzaSafari for the first time and then hopped over to MK and went to MNSSHP again. We loaded up on some snacks before the party....

FRI 10/6 we made sure we used up all of our snacks and last counter service and headed for home!

We had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed the DDP. Like I stated in another thread the DDP gives me and my family a chance to enjoy these type restaurants that we normally would not be able to enjoy on our limited budget. Thanks to all who gave advice on the restaurants and desserts! We had many first's on this trip and it made the trip very special!

Did you get to do any of the rides or did you just eat :ROFLOL:

Of course! We went directly to our favorite ride, the Tea Cups :hurl: :ROFLOL:

We had a great time with all the rides at MK, Epcot and we went to AK to let my wife try the new EE ride. (I don't do well on rollercoasters so I elected to stay in the shop!) We also got some more first's in at AK:
We saw the Nemo show and loved it!
We saw the Pocahantus show and thought it was cute, but I do believe my girls were a little outgrown for that one.
One thing stayed the same at AK for us and that is we got rained on as we have every time we go there.

I just remembered another first for us at MK...we ate of Caseys Corner. We had Hot Dogs and fries each with chili and cheese. It was very good! I can not believe all these years we have just passed it by. We sat back on the bleachers and watched cartoons. A very neat little space indeed!

This post is making me hungry!:slurp:

Best trip report ever. As much as I enjoy the rides, I'm all about the food. Finally a trip report that I can truly relate to. :sohappy:

What does the earthquake consist of?

The Earthquake: You get to choose 8 scoops of ice cream and choose 8 different toppings then they put sliced bananas, whipped cream, chopped almonds and cherries on top. I believe the price was around $24.95

I know we picked 2 scoops of chocolate, 2 cookies and cream, 2 chocolate chip and 2 vanilla and I can't remember all the toppings but we had butterscotch, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, ?, ?, ? :slurp:

It was very good!

I loved this TR!!! Food is a big & important part of my vacation (even though I don't eat enough to keep a bird alive - that's what my mother-in-law says)! We also like the DDP and we feel we get to experience restaurants that we would not normally visit b/c of the price. Thanks for sharing your food pics!

Your Welcome! We love the DDP, especially when it has been free, because eating at different restaurants is like riding different rides! It is equally part of our vacations as well!

Add me to the list of people who loved your idea of a food trip report! It is such a big part of the experience. I especially like that the biggest percentage of pics are of dessert :slurp:

The only thing that made me sad was to see all of those cherries left behind after the Earthquake. Not one of you guys wanted those? Wow

Yes, next time I will actually try to take pics of the food! Also, we had eaten a few of the cherries as we started but pushed past them to get to the other stuff....:hammer:

Things I still want to try that I have not:
Sticky Mickey - Was Concourse Steakhouse the only place that made these?
Dole Whip - still have not stopped for one of these!

I think the Sticky Mickeys were only at the Concourse Steakhouse but I'm not completely sure, sorry. I missed trying those too sadly.

Dole Whip is a definite 'must try' next time, you will not be sorry! Get the float :slurp:

I guess I can get over the cherries then if you had a ton of 'em and ate some, they just looked so sad (and yummy )
