Trip Report - 6/28-7/3

We had a wonderful trip staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge which is terrific. Everyone was so right to get a Savannah View room. The weather wasn't too horribly hot and humid (everything is relative). We visited MK, Epcot, AK, MGM, & Universal. Bus transportation worked great and the few times we drove to the park we were able to park fairly close. We used Fast pass which worked well and at times we were able to walk right onto the ride. Jiko's was excellent, Brown Derby was okay, and Harbour House was very good. :sohappy:

The only problem we had was that we were unable to make priority seating arrangements for any meals at Cinderella Castle because we were only a party of 2. It wasn't a major problem but I wondered about all the single parents who may want to take their child to a meal at Cinderella's Castle and not be able to make priority seating. :(

Very interesting. Over at AllEarsNet.com they had a mention of some of the restaurants that didn't accept solo reservations (mostly the family-style places), but this is the first time I've heard of not accepting parties of 2.

Who wouldn't let you make a PS? Someone on the phone, or in-person? Very curious...

Glad you had a good trip, though. Any more thoughts on the restaurants you visited?

I tried making priority seating over the phone while at AKL. We were surprised, too, because the cast member was very upfront saying that they had plenty of open reservations for 3 for dinner but that they were not allowed to take reservations for 2. I actually called back the next day and tried again but received the same answer. It was weird.

Cosmic Ray's turkey leg was not very good and the cast member was really slow and was in no hurry to move the line along. Breakfast at Tusker House in AK was very good and no lines. We happily walked past everyone waiting in line for Rainforest and walked right in Tusker House.

We were disappointed that Tony's in MK no longer serves breakfast but we stopped by the bakery in MK and were pleasantly pleased with the bake goods, yogurt mix (similar to Tony's) and coffee that was served.

We split up in Epcot and my husband bought breakfast in the Umbrella was was not very good and overpriced. I went to the coffee/cafe on the other side of the water fountain and was pleased with the fruit, coffee, and muffins...reasonably priced.

Nascar vs Race Rock

For all the racing fans, avoid Nascar Restaurant in U. It was really bad. Head to Race Rock on International Drive...food is much better and the theming is top notch...if you like racing.

I was able to make a reservation for Cinderellas Royal Table for lunch on June 30th for 2. Ours was centered next to window with a view of the Carousel. Perfect location. Tables for 2 are so difficult to obtain because they only have 2 or 3 from what I noticed. Most tables are grouped in 4 or more.

That's good news that you were able to make priority seating arrangements for 2 on June 30. Did you call in advance while planning your trip or while you were in Disney, same or next day? Just curious....
