Trip Report 12/8 - 12/17

Well first off sorry for the delay, we have both been sick since we have returned.. (must of been from eating all the goodies)

Well we had a great time as usual, not too many bumps along the way but a couple of disappointments.

The whole YOMD promo in our opinion was done sort of half ______ if you ask us. I mean only one car on the monorail done up and the odd decoration here and there. The merchandise for it was not that great I must say. The dreamteam members are nice we had a few that just chatted with us (no we did not win anything). They will gladly help you out if you have any questions about the park or give you tips and showtimes. We did find however that they do give from our perspective about 90percent of the prizes to families. We do not have kids and no we are not upset at winning but we did notice that families did see to get the ears and fastpasses and pins. OH YES the dream fastpasses, everytime you turn around someone had them on. This promo was a great idea but not very well thought out. Usually when disney does a promo they go all out, not this time it was very disappointing.

Next up they are STILL painting the castle, everyday til around 4pm when the crane was lowered down. Apparently from what a manager told us someone didn't like the way the castle looked and they were making a few more (Shading) changes.

The merchandise selection was very poor I must say. We were there last year at this time and the only new products had to do with pirates. Pirates are everywhere. Yes we love the movie and the attraction but there is something called overkill. Couldn't find anything ADULT for cars, incredibles or nothing new for POOH, DONALD, GOOFY, PLUTO or any other character except mickey. Very discouraging to us big kids who spend the money.

Now the good stuff:
Finding Nemo the Musical IS AWESOME, one of the best shows we have ever seen. FABULOUS can't say enough about it. The theatre holds 1700 guests and it's full. GREAT SHOW

Finding Nemo the Ride is great too, especially when you get to the end and realize the animation is done on the 2 LIVE tank windows in the living seas. It's amazing how they do it.

The Pirate Tutorial for kids in the magic kingdom is a great show we saw it three times, there is jokes for the big kids and little kids. Show is never the same because it depends on the kids who get chosen.

Monsters Inc was good it's going to be really good when they get the animation bugs worked out and the characters. No Sully though that kind of disappointed alot of people but still and good show and will get better.

Parks looked great didn't seem to have as much decorations up as last year though.

The Holiday Hop dance parties during MVMCP in fantasyland and Tomorrowland are a great addition. Great to see the characters interact with the kids and big kids on a much more fun level.

On Thursday 12/14 there was a computer problem or power outage at EPCOT it had the entry gates down for a half hour or more, we were catching the ferry to MGM and the backup was HUGE at International Gateway.

Had a great stay at the Pop Century, going to be a while before we go back during the holiday season, they need to speak to someone who looks after the retail side and things and really get some new merchadise and products in the parks and in the shops.. It was sad to see the exact same thing on Main St in the Magic Kingdom as in Downtown Disney and MGM and Animal Kingdom and EPCOT and your resort.

Overall great stay and look forward to going back soon maybe during the Flower and Garden Festival..

That's It:xmas: Happy Holidays Everyone

I agree with merchandise. I really dont like it when I go twice a year 5 or 6 months apart and all the merchandise is the same stuff as last time.

Is it 5:00 yet?
You are definitely right about the merchandise. I remember last year at this time all the '05 stuff was 50% off...not this year for some reason...:( That limited me to what I bought. That was at Pop Century, not sure if that was property wide.
