Trip Report 10/24-11/3

Sorry it took me sooooo long to post.

I had such a great time at WDW this year. The last time I had gone was in April 2000 and the place was packed. I walked right on most rides this time. It was awesome!

Although I've been a member of this board for a few months now, I don't really post much.

I have pictures of my trip too. If the files aren't too big I'll try to post a few.

I hope you guys enjoy my report!

Day 1
We left from Providence's T F Green Airport on time (woo hoo) at 2:25. The departing flight from Delta was nice. We usually fly Southwest but we figured we'd give Delta a whirl. I recommend those plane cookies for a buck. The kids loved them.

When we landed in Orlando it was pouring! We picked up our bags and went straight to the Dollar window for our rental car. We were getting 2 passenger vans for the 11 of us (me, my bf, our 3 kids, 7, 3, 2 in one van... his mom and dad, brother, sister and her husband and their 9 yr old daughter in the other)

We were told there were none available! We had booked months prior and they had either overbooked or people were running late because of the bad weather. We waited an hour for our vans.

(Good thing I packed a whole suitcase with snacks... figured I'd put gifts in it for the flight back) When the vans finally arrived it was much later then we had planned.

Because of the weather and the delay at Dollar we went straight to the hotel, Days Suites Maingate East, and checked in. No pool for us because it was STILL pouring. We were exhausted, so we picked up dinner from the Checker's next door and got a good night's rest for our first day at WDW at Disney-MGM Studios.

DAY 9: SeaWorld (second day)

We had coupons from AAA for a free second day at SeaWorld so we decided to use it today.

We breezed by the front part of the park this time and walked up to the Dolphin Cove to feed them. For $4 (I think) you get about 5 fish to feed the dolphins. My BF's niece had her picture taken by SeaWorld staff and her mom ended up purchasing it.

We went to see the Manatees, we kinda skipped them somehow the other day. Nice film at the beginning and then a big viewing area to watch them. My BF's thing... not mine.

We went back to the Anheuser Busch Center for lunch. I had beef stew in a bread bowl this time.:slurp: My BF had that huge sandwich again. Good food here relatively cheap. I recommend this place.

After lunch we headed over to SeaWorld Theater to see Pets Ahoy!. Cute show with household type pets, dogs, cats, birds, pigs (well pigs aren't household but... anyway). Nearlly all the animals in this show were rescued from animal selters. It was cute.

We ran to Key West Dolphin Stadium to see the Dolphin Show. The opening act for this show was great too. This guy with a guitar (he was also the MC for the rest of the program) sings songs. There was one particular song he does with all 50 states that's hilarious. He wasn't getting much audience participation ... I don't really think anyone was listening, so he added some international countries to the song. When he got to the UK half the stadium cheered. At the end of the song he chuckled and said, "If it wasn't for England I don't even think we'd be open this month"

I'd had enough SeaWorld at this point and we decided to head back to the hotel and then go to Downtown Disney for a while.

We parked in Lot B and stayed around the Marketplace area. This is where we made our Build-A-Pins.

You pick the background and select the character on your pin. I pin can run you from $8-12 buck but they're just the way you like them. Mine has Cinderella's Castle as the background and Tinkerbell is in the sky with **Piglet*** and Dopey waving in front of the castle. REAL cute and it's personal.

We went over to Once Upon A Toy and my daughter built her own Mr. Potato Head. They have all the body parts in bins and you get a box and make your own Mr. Potato Head. Disney ears, shoes, eyes, its all there but you make it how you like it.

We were getting tired and headed back to the hotel after this. We had supper on the ride back.

NEXT: DAY 9 - the last day

Yes. Here's how the story goes.

When you go through the ganster seen you hear the same spiel.

"Shh!!! Who's comming!"
"Just some tourists"
Then you go through the doors.
Into the western scean.
"Someone's robbed the BANK!"
Your Guide-"What. I need to go help."
Bank Rober-"Yeeeha! Well, looks like I have my getaway vehicle right here."
Guide-"Don't put these innocent people in danger."
Rober-"Ya see here missy, when the bank blows I'll be outa here with my money."
Guy on Roof-"Put your hands up!"
Guide runs away into building.
Rober starts to shoot.
Guy starts to shoot.
"The Banks going to blow!"
Fire comes out of windows and smoke comes out of the surrounding buildings.
Goes into Alien scean.

DAY 9: Animal Kingdom

We got there before opening and the place was a mob scene. The parks are soooo much more crowded on the weekend.

We went straight to the Tree of Life and my BF and our 2 older kids saw It's Tough to be a Bug! I can't do 3D so sat outside with our youngest. Bought a delicious crumb cake from the cart near the tree. :slurp:

We wanted to do Kilimanjaro Safaris before it got too busy so we went that way next. Walked right on. Saw giraffes, elephants and rhinos. We couldn't really see the lions too well, they were hiding behind the rocks we had a good safari. Got those poachers too :animwink:

We missed Festival of the Lion King last time and went to go see the next show. We sat in the elephant section. The sections are lion, warthog, giraffe, and elephant. Start rehearsing your animal noises now. Beautiful show... must see!

We stopped for lunch at Tusker House. I had a chicken sandwich and the kdis split a 1/2 chicken with there dad. My littlest wanted peanut butter and jelly and they sell crustless PB&J by Smuckers I believe. I was expecting homemade PB&J. She didn't touch it... oh well.

We rode the Express Train to Conservation Stations. We got photos and autographs with Pocahontas, Meeko and Rafiki there. The kids even combed some goats in the petting area.

We headed to Kali River Rapids next. The 2 littlest sat in "captain" chairs because they barely met the height requirement. Just the regular seat with an extra bar they swing down for them to hold on to. One ride around and I was drenched but my BF wasn't :fork:
I agreed to ride a s2nd time so he could get wet and I got soaked AGAIN. He rode a 3rd time but I refused. I was soaked ... through all the layers... but all in good fun :drevil:

Last stop was DinoLand. We rode TriceraTop Spin which had a 20 minute wait (the only thing in the park we really waited for). Same idea as Aladdin. Front seat tilt, second seat up/down.

We switched off for Primevial Whirl. The group sitting out the ride sits in a cage and view the whole ride. This one makes you dizzy, and you don't start spinning until 1/3 of the way through the ride. Right when I was asking my 7 yr old "So how do you get it to spiiiinnnnnn" We walked right on ... surprizing for a new ride.

We did Dinosaur because there was no wait and we needed to waste some more time before the 4:00 Jammin' Jungle Parade. Too intense for me or my son to do again... Remember me, big Chicken :lookaroun

The parade was a great end for our trip. Brer Rabbit danced with our 7 yr old. Another great photo of that.

We had PS at 1900 Park Fare for dinner that night. The Pooh characters were supposed to be there but I was exhausted. The kids went with there dad and I roamed around the Grand Floridian.

I bought some great pin in their gift shop upstairs too. They had kid award pins. My youngest got the Clean Plate Club pin, my son got the Good Manners Pin because he was the best behaved this trip, and my oldest got the Best Reader pin. Great gifts for them for the end of our trip.

COMING UP: DAY 10 - the flight home

DAY 10: The Flight Home

We checked out of our hotel about 8:30am to make our 11am flight. Dropping off our rental van at Dollar was so fast. Quick walk around and a peak at the gas level and we were off.

Once we checked our baggage and were seated for our flight to take off it was about 10:15. We weren't really sure how Orlando Int'l security would be so we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time.

At 10:50 what we thought was our plane, taxied to the gate. About 11am we hear our flight is changing gates and all 11 of us our moving across the terminal to another gate ... FUN FUN

We get to the other gat eabout 11:10 to hear a new annoucement that they are looking for 2 passengers with flexible schedules because they over booked. Double EEK!

Needless to say, we finally got out of the gate about 11:35. I think I'll go back to flying Southwest next trip. 3 flights to Disney and never been delayed

Now I'm getting ready to plan my next trip!

TTFN!
