Trip planning advice for September/October

Im new to this :) I'm planning a trip with my girlfriends this fall. We're interested in going sometime between mid September through early October. Last year we were the around Sept. 21. It wasn't super crowded, but crowds were higher than I expected. What week would you recommend? I was looking at going October 5-12. Would that cut in too much to the Columbus Day holiday? I know crowds are higher around holiday weekends. My other choice was September 28-5. What would you all recommend? Any advice would be great :) oh and we want to be able to attend MNSSHP

I've heard mixed reviews about food and wine! I've never been. Some people love it, others say its just a bunch of drunk people around world showcase. I'd like to experience it though and see for myself

Sept 8-14 & Sept 17-Oct 3 crowd levels are 1-2. Crowd levels for Sept 15-16 and Oct 4-12 are mostly 3 & 4 (12th is a 7).

We went in 2011 the 15th -20th and will be going for those times again this year. We thought the crowds were really small and easy going. Did everything we wanted and only place we really waited was FP for Toy Story Mania at HS.

It is worth experiencing at least once.
If you visit during the daytime hours, you will encounter less *drunks*...

I did it once, and it was okay. Not something i would plan a trip around, but that is just me.
I find it attracts the locals in and this can effect the otherwise lower crowd conditions in mid September.

Unless you want to definately do F&W, i would visit in mid September before it begins if you desire lower crowds. If it is a must do for you, by all means GO and experience it...but expect more people around you doing the same.

Have a wonderful time...whatever you choose!

We have done F&W four times but I have to say that last year the food offerings seemed rather poor. Now perhaps we just mad some bad choices on what to try but what we did try was pretty devoid of flavor and so salty that it was kind of disgusting. This was the first time we had experienced this and past trips had been rather good but we are steering clear of the festival this year in favor of a visit earlier in Sept.

We have done F@W every year since 2003, and we love it. It does get a little crowded on weekends. That is when you will have more of a chance of seeing someone who had one too many. I have only seen one bad incident in all of the trips. If you go check out the Eat to the Beat concerts, some of them are actually really good.

Im going Sept 21-28th this year. This is the third time I have gone for that time, I have also gone the week later. I would stick with one of those weeks if you can. The closer you get to Halloween the more crowded the halloween parties are. The Food and Wine festival is great, I love it! Enjoy!

We have been to the Food and Wine festival just about every year since it's conception, only missed two years, and honestly, Ive never seen disorderly drunk people. Not saying it doesnt happen, but Ive only witnessed VERY happy people, and they were funny as all get out! (Nope, I wasnt one of them LOL) IMHO, the BEST time to visit Disney is during the Fall. Mid September is hotter than say mid to end of October, but the crowds are a little less. With MNSSHP going on along with Food and Wine, it does tend to get crowded on weekends, but mid week, crowd levels arent bad at all. I HIGHLY suggest Food and Wine. The best advice I can give anyone is to eat and keep hydrated if you intend to sample some of the fine adult beverages offered at each kiosk.

  • We have been there multiple times for FW, and have not seen the drunks as mentioned. Gret food around the world. Sept used to be slow, but wdw has found a way to make it busy again. It's not crazy like summer or hollidays, but don't think you can just walk up to a ts or attraction and not wait. Those dys are over. FW FESTIVAL is totally worth it, even with the crowds, but that's at EPCOT only.

OMG, it is not a bunch of drunk people at all! Perhaps late on a Saturday night things might get rowdier, but certainly not by day or even dinner time. Yes they serve alcohol, but it's all about the food. It's really a do-not-miss event for the time of year you are travelling. I don't drink at all, and my hubby sampled just one adult beverage, but our entire family (2 kids too) loved it.

The weekends and Wednesday evening/night will be a little crowded. Wednesdays are evening EMH for Epcot, and it was pretty packed on a Wed. when I was there last October.
I didn't see anyone stumbling around, but would have been fun to see though! Some of the food selections were hit or miss, but it's definitely worth going for it. Also, getting the pre-paid card makes it easier when paying at the booth.
