Trip (July 30-August 6) Anxiety, fast pass help wanted

I'm going with my family of eight at the end of the month and I'm very nervous. I want all of us to have a great time so I'm trying to plan our schedule ahead and expect the crowds and extreme heat (heat is what I'm least worried about as we're from the deep south). What I'm most anxious about is that I don't really understand what has changed with fast passes since we last visited. I know that they've become much more strict about times and I also know that they no longer give you tickets but I don't really know any more than that. Could someone please walk me through the new fast pass system? Are there any new tricks for maxing out your fast pass use? Also, any other suggestions for maximizing our time in the parks is greatly appreciated. Is it true that you get more done if you go left to Adventure Land first instead of going to Tomorrow or Fantasy Land that you'll get more done?

As of right now, the paper Fastpasses are still the system in use. They have been doing limited testing of the new FP+ system, but that's been by invitation only.

The return window on the Fastpasses, which has always been there, is now being enforced. So you must return within the time stamped on your FP.

I am so glad to hear this! I really am excited to try the new fastpasses but I'm really comfortable with the old ones so this is great news for me. I would rather go a year after the new fastpasses have been used so that I can know exactly what I should do to get the most of them.

This is the kind of thing I would expect to hear worries about even more once FP+ goes gold while FP isn't a must, it is a nice offering and the restrictions on it are only going to make it more confusing and... Well... Restricting it sounds.

I'm not happy with the new system, we travel from the UK and never take phones with us, it's our way of escaping real life! We won't be able to take advantage of this, I'm glad we can still get normal FP this Sept!
