So I just booked our fourth Disney Vacation for January 14-17. We have always gone in the summer time. What can I expect, what can I look forward to, and what might be fun to check out at this time of the year?

Phew! Good to hear that the Cheering Competition is a week before my trip. Jan 21st-27th Look at me I'm cheering!---> :sohappy:. Anywhoozle. I've gone mostly in october the past 2 times and since hearing how it gets in January gets me even more excited how the parks will be. I can finnally have my own Train on the TTA...sweet bliss:lol: .

You might want to double check those dates for 2006. This thread is almost 2 years old!!! (Sept 2004)

It's still got good advice for what to pack in January. Be prepared for any kind of weather.

OMG! why do most of you people get to go to disney world.. I mean I live in canada so I can never aford it.. I been to canada's wonderland and marine land before though.. where do you people live anyways to actually be able to go there.. you must live in the states? if not then thats very suprising.. O_O

Going from Canada is expensive, but not all that different than going from the U.S. Flights are the only difference really and you can get seat sales or if you live near the border, you can drive into the States and fly domestic for the same prices they pay.

I live in Ottawa and DS and I have been taking a Disney trip every year since 2001 [well, we missed one year, but that was a scheduling problem, not finances]. Next year, we'll be getting APs and hopefully plan to make four trips to WDW between Feb '07 and Feb '08. Flying down in Feb each year and driving in June and August.

There is no question WDW is a more expensive vacation than Canada's Wonderland, but IMO it's worth saving up for because there's so much more to do and so much more fun to be had.

I know it's been said before but, please remember to pack clothing for both temperature extreme's and really how much room does sticking a hat and gloves for each family member take up in your suitcase! I'm sure you will be checking the forecast before you leave home but, the temp can change quickly and i have seen many people unprepared for the cold, especially those with little ones. I remember a couple of years ago we went in February, ,most days were beautiful but one day in particular was cloudy and FREEZING. Anyway, there was this family, Mom, Dad and a baby about 6-8 months old, the parents had on sweatshirts and were shrivering, this poor baby had on a sunsuit and was SCREAMING, the parents were totally ignoring her and just kept on with their conversation. I wanted to smack them up side the head! I did make a very loud point of saying that maybe one of them could take off their sweat shirt and tuck the baby inside it so she didn't freeze to death. They ignored me!
