We did a 3 day weekend there two years ago at the end of May with a room 35% discount and the cost divided between 6 adults. We also had 1 child with us. I got the king room (I paid for everything else so...duh), my daughter and her fiance had the queen room, my sister and her adult daughter did the bunk bed room, and my son with his daughter took the living room which had both a pull out double or queen bed as well as a pull out single so they were able to sleep separate. They were a little hard to locate (but that's just me),basically we had trouble seeing the turn that took us down to the treehouses but once on that road it was easy. Loved that there are 3 truly separate rooms but each is a really good size as is the living room/dining room/kitchen area. If you traveled with say a child who needed to nap it's like being at home...you can just shut the door but not be stuck sitting in what feels like a bedroom. There was a charcoal grill and we were able to park 2 cars right at the door. My granddaughter got a kick out of the house being elevated...like a beach or river house on stilts to give you an idea so you really feel like you're in an adult version of a treehouse. We used the quiet pool near where ours was located. That pool was just your average square pool..kinda boring imo but I'm from FL. The decor was very pretty, rustic but softer than say wilderness lodge. Loved feeling like we were in a private home as a change of pace so it was super quiet. Others have mentioned in the past that they had trouble with hot water with the showers but with all 7 of us showering we didn't have any problem with that. Not having a car could slow your travel time down but we always drive so I cannot fully comment on that. I'd happily stay there again.

Thank you so much for the review :)

We haven't stayed there, but we had a long conversation with a family who did on our last trip, as we all cruised down the Sassagoula River. They said the treehouse was beautiful and they loved how remote it felt (the son compared it favorably to the Ewok village from Return of the Jedi), but they bitterly regretted not renting a car. They said it was taking them at least 60-90 minutes to get anywhere with WDW transportation because they had to walk to a depot and then take a shuttle or tram to get to the Saratoga Springs bus stops, and then wait there for the bus to their desired location. Had they had their own car, the problem would have been solved.

I will be staying there for the first time in April, 75 days to be exact. We're really looking forward to checking them out!

They are remote. If you use Disney transportation to get to the parks, you'll need to take a shuttle to Saratoga first, that's why the people weather_lady talked to needed 60-90 minutes to get anywhere.

Here's a video of one of the units, just a walk through the entire villa...

When they were first built, the amount of points you'd need to stay there was comparable to the points needed to stay in a 2BR Saratoga unit. I guess that changed as they became so popular. Now the difference for a 1 week stay in a treehouse can be anywhere from 33-60 points more than a 2BR unit.

Aiming for September either there or a suite at animation
We've stayed in an AoA suite, that was actually our first Value resort experience. I was pretty happy there, great Disney theming, lots of fun! But those are definitely two very different stays, depends on what you're looking for. You would have so much more space in the Treehouse if that's desirable for your travel party. AoA was pretty tight, but worked out great for the 5 of us.

We really enjoyed them, but the only drawback was walking to the internal bus stop for a van to pick us up and take us to the regular bus stop (it was too far to walk for sure). We had 4 adults and 4 kids. We had to split the showering times between day and night because we regularly ran out of hot water in the mornings. This was a few years ago, so hopefully some things have changed. They were in the middle of refurbishing the internal bus routes and stops for the Tree House Villas to the regular bus stop. Not sure what the deal was with the water. We called to notify them of the problem several times, but it was never really solved.

The resort is quite nice. One evening, it was pouring and we (4 adults & 4 kids) got soaked to the bone (this was in January, and it was quite cold that year). We canceled our dining plans at the park and headed back to the resort. When we got there, we asked one of the CMs at Turf Club if they had room for dinner. They said absolutely, so we explained that it would take a little time for us to run back to our room to change since we were in the Tree House Villas. Not only did they go ahead and seat us, they brought us numerous towels to help us dry off. Honestly, we did feel a little out of place because we were all wet, but the staff there did everything they could to make us comfortable. To top it off, the food was very good, so we went back one more time before we left (it was warmer and sunny that day so we sat outside).

Outside of the water issue (which we solved by 1/2 taking showers at night and 1/2 in the morning) it was really cool.

Thanks so much for the details! I'm getting quite excited to stay there in October. My 3 year old and 5 year old are excited, too!

We stayed there back in 2012..absolutely LOVED it! the Treehouse is probably my FAVORITE place we have stayed. there is plenty of room and TV;s in living room and bedrooms...Loved the deck and watching the boats go by. having the washing and dryer was a plus as well.!! you have to take an internal bus to SSR to catch the park buses or take the boat, but it was not that inconvenient to us. Planning another stay there again very soon!!

We stayed in a tree house in March 2013 and loved the tree house hated everything else. The long travel time to the parks was so bad we ended up hiring cabs for the week. We would have rented a car but having 9 people and not realizing till we were there we needed a car a cab was the best way to go we would have the cab take us to another resort and then get on disney transportation. On the first day it took us 2 hrs to get to MK. 1 1/2 to Epcot. I said I was done and my DH started looking into other options and a cab was our best option as we were told by SSR front desk. Also staying in the tree house you are a long way from dinning options and the main building. It a good 15 minute walk or a good 20 minute bus ride to the main resort.

we last stayed there in 1977, so this is more of an aside than a post of advice.

I believe at that time, every treehouse had a golf cart for getting to the bus stops and you could leave the carts at a charging station. Perhaps (?) you could even drive them to WDW Village (now Downtown Disney); I can't recall but that's sort of what my fuzzy memory suggests. I'll have to ask my parents how it all worked.

I would love to go back there someday, but it does sound like its a choice of luxury over convenience.
