i watch the travel channel alot and it seems that they only do specials about universal, ioa, seaworld and busch gardens and never about disney. it seems they almost go out of there way to avoid mentioning disney in there top 10 shows. just wondering if there is any reason they do this:confused:

Well, chances are, if you're going to orlando, you probably are going to visit Disney. Its almost a given. Everyone knows about Disney World, so theres no need to tell the public about it. The Travel Channel seems like they try to inform people of other attractions Orlando has to offer - "Theres more to Orlando than the Magic Kingdom"

Also, they tend to focus on extreme rides, and Disney doesn't have anything too extreme.

All I have seen regarding Disney on the Travel Channel is Disneyland Paris. As said above, basically everybody knows about WDW. Although if Disney were to build a new park, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few specials.... although that probably won't happen for another 5-10 years.

It's prpbably an advertising issue. Disney probably wont advertise enough on the Travel Channel to get favorible treatment.

ABC

I agree about the advertising and I believe this is more political than we even imagine. As we all know Disney is very very conscious of it's image and they do not want anything to tarnish that image. To get their cooperation on doing a piece on Disney World I can almost gaurantee that they would want creative control over what is shown, what is mention, and what is talked about. If it may be even a slightly negative portrayal of anything Disney they would probably balk at it. The Travel Channel is a subsidiary of the Discovery Channel which if I am not mistaken is part of the whole Viacom conglomerate. Hence CBS Network. While they cannot control what is said on those channels they can most definately control what is said on programs shown on ABC, ESPN and any other affiliated networks. Anyway hope this wasn't too long and boring, but I think that with Disney's rep as a fairly cutthroat corporate entity when it comes to their own interests, the Travel Channel has probably deemed it best just not to do anything Disney related since they won't have Disney's blessing anyway.

Really? Geez. And all this time I thought it was just the Kingdom!!! LOL!

Oh, wait! Now I remember. There really is more than the Magic Kingdom! Let's see..... there's Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom.......

(Actually, Blizzard Beach was #2 on Travel Channel's top 10 water parks!)

LOL, don't blame me, I was quoting what the Travel Channel always says!

I don't think so. I seem every other comerical on travel is for disney (one of the reasons we wacth the travel :animwink: ) I tend to agree that is is politcal and Diseny wants all creative control. I don't think it is becuase everyone already knows about it, because those who do know about it love Disney and would wacth it again and again (my husband tapes the old Walt Disney presents on midnights to see the old Disney land tour shows!!!) I feel that Diseny should do more shows about the parks, on any one of the networks they own. I personally have had enough of the teeny boper concerts, more behind the scenes would be great.

I felt challenged to use that in a sentence...

I was driving on the Autobahn and I had to stop at the schlitterbahn (rest area). :)
