Transportation: WDW to Universal

My husband and I are both Disney fanatics and have never been to Universal.

However, he has left hints every now and then that he would like to have the collection of Harry Potter movies, and as a special surprise I have included tickets to Universal Studios.

We will be driving and staying for a week in WDW, and spend one day in Universal during our stay. I need to know if we should leave WDW area and drive to Universal (and paying the $20 parking) or should we take the bus Lynx Bus ($8 total)?

Thanks!

If you'll already have a car, the speed and convenience of driving is well worth the price difference. The Lynx bus takes a while and requires a transfer.

Since you're driving, I'd also suggest also bringing along a GPS that gets traffic info. I-4 can be a traffic nightmare if there's an accident or construction.

Or just go the Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road route (pick up Palm Parkway near the Downtown Disney end of property). At best you avoid any backups on I-4, at worst it's only a couple minutes slower than a totally clear I-4.

It's worth it to me to pay for parking since you park in a garage. It's really nice in hot weather to not have to get into an oven after a day in the park or getting soaked getting into the car when it's raining.
It's basically a straight shot once you get on I 4.

If you have the car, definitely drive. Then you control you time from start to finish. Much more convenient and worth the parking fee.

Drive your car and park in the premium lot (worth the few extra bucks). If you are going in the summer and have the money purchase the Express Passes. With the Express Passes and you move at a normal pace, you should hit most of both parks. If you want to spend lots of time at the Harry Potter Parks, get the 2 Day Both Park Tickets. You need the Both Parks Ticket to ride the Hogwarts Express.

We used Uber on our trip last week and it worked out great! Once you request a pickup they were there within 5 minutes each time. We paid $15.00 each way and tipped the driver $5.00, so $40.00 round trip and it was worth every penny(there was 3 of us).. All the cars were clean and comfortable. Pop Century to Universal...
