Transportation to MGM from Yacht Club

What is the best plan to get from the Yacht Club to MGM? I have read that you can take the boat (but that seems slow) or walk. How long does it take to walk?

Is the path in the blazing sun the whole way?

It takes about 25-20 depending on how fast of a walker you are but it is absolutly 2x faster than the boat hands down. The path is in the sun but is not bad, we always walk(its along the back of the boardwalk along the route the boat takes.:)

We take the boat from MGM to Epcot sometimes. If your feet are tired of walking, it can be very relaxing and by the time we get to Epcot, we're ready to go again.

The length of the walk really depends on which end of the resort you are staying on. Many of the rooms will be much closer to the Boardwalk, and MGM. But even from the far, "EPCOT" end of the Beach Club, it is not a bad walk.

If the idea of diesel exhaust billowing in through the back door, clunking into three docks along your voyage, and waiting in line to get on the boat and for loading people at the other stops is your idea of relaxation, then by all means take the boat!

(Can you tell that I prefer the walk?!)
Truthfully, the walk is worth it to me even if I'm tired. It is a refreshing walk which is far removed from the crowds and is a nice little peaceful stretch of some back country.

Either way won't make a substantial difference in time, just depends on what you feel like!

Enjoy the Yacht Club!

Usually in the morning we take the boat because it's so hot and the sun is so strong. And it's very peaceful to hang out on the dock and take in the scenery. There never seems to be a long wait either.

At night, on the other hand, especially after Fantasmic, the line at the boats can be HUGE! We usually end up walking. Or half of us walk and the (older) half wait for the boat. The walkers always make it back faster. The walk at night is very pretty, and it's usually much cooler. Don't forget, you may have to stand on the boat if it's crowded, so if you're looking for a way to rest your feet, you may not get it.

Depends on how much of a hurry you are in. One day my son and I came out of MGM and noticed a long line waiting for boat. There wasn't one in sight so we walked. A boat passed us going toward MGM and by the time we reached Beach Club the boat was still not in sight coming back. It took us 15-20 minutes to walk. My son is 12.

Another time when staying at AKL my wife and I were at Epcot and wanted to have lunch at ESPN Club on Boardwalk. We ate and, instead of walking all the way back through Epcot to our bus, we took the boat to MGM and got on our bus there. We were in no hurry and our feet were a little tired so it was a nice alternative.

Thanks to everyone! The walking looks much more doable than I had thought it might be. I hope we will be located at the Swan/Dolphin end of the Yacht Club because our husbands will be attending VSLive there so it will be quick for them in the morning.
