Transportation from UC Riverside

I am looking for some ways for 2 people to travel from UC Riveride to Disneyland for the day?

What are the options?

Are there any tour bus packages that are affordable?

I'd like to avoid public transportation if possible.

Will be travelling the first week of January.

There are tour buses, but they aren't very affordable and you don't get to stay the whole day.
Is renting a car an option? A friend with a car to take you?

My son isn't an experienced driver, so I think renting a car wouldn't work.

Is the metrolink safe? Where would it pick up in Riverside?
