Hey guys!
I got a question about Disney Transportation. I want to go to Universal and NASA for two days but don't want to rent a car. Does Disney offer buses to go to either?

No Disney does not offer transportation to any outside parks. You would either have to rent a car or take a taxi. There are always taxis waiting in front of the resorts waiting to pick up people.

Every time I have been, I have used Mears to get to other places, such as the ones you mention. I was just a matter of being outside the hotel at a certain time and paying the driver. Very reasonable rates as I remember.

Does this still happen?

I am not sure, because the last time I was there I had asked someone at the front desk if they had buses that go to US or Sea World they had told me no that I had to take a taxi. What resort were you staying at?

Check the NASA website, I recall seeing packages on the site that included transportation to/from Disney to Cape Canaveral.

I have done this several times from the All Stars. I know Disney won't officially recommend or give specific info about it, as it is a competitors service, but I had no problems, the hotel staff would at least point me in the right direction.

The reason I wondered if it still happened was because it was around two years ago when I last did it. I am interested in the answer as I am hoping to do the same thing again in May this year.

$45 sounds alot more resonable to me than the $227 we are paying to rent a car. When we booked all this we thought we would be using it alot more, but seeing that we will only be at universal one day, and that night margaritaville, mears or a taxi sounds alot better! more money to spend on souveniers :) im glad i did a search for this, it just occured to me that paying $227 for a car to sit and look nice in the akl parking lot, isnt a smart way to be spending the money we dont have to begin with!

Well, Disney itself does not provide the transportation. They don't prohibit an outside company from driving onto their property, but they don't advertise or condone it, either. I can understand that ... if I owned a business I wouldn't advertise to people how to conveniently spend their money elsewhere.

A tip:
If you're staying in a Disney hotel and want to call Mears to arrange either bus transportation or a towncar, dial "0" on your room phone and ask the operator to connect you to Mears. This saves you from having to pay the 75-cents for a local call.

I believe the Mears bus roundtrip to Universal is $15 per person.
