Trail's End

Yesterday my mom called to see if my family could get reservations at Crystal Palace. But since there are 16 of us going, they said that we were too big of a party to fit at a character meal. But the CM on the phone gave us a list of options that would fit our rather big party. *We are going down for my sweet 16 that's why there are so many of us, we are not a tour group!!* We have other reservations at Cape May (my birthday dinner), Akerhaus (Norway) and Hollywood and Vine (for my brothers and cousin). So the CM got us 6pm reservations at Trail's End. I wanted to know everyone's opinions on it! Being, I never heard of it and it will be my first time there. I read some reviews and the menu it sounds really good.

If you have read the menu and it sounds good to you, chances are you won't be disappointed. The restaurant is very rustic, like something you would see in Frontierland. We have had only dinner there but the food was very good and the service was excellent. I think this is a place where your large group can have a good meal and a great time.

i like trail's end and it's a unique place, so many restaurants are now so homogenized. the food is good,, filling and the atmosphere nice. after dinner you could go down and play on the beach and wait for the electrical light pageant, or if you have enough time, take a carriage ride after dinner, before the light pageant. if you have your own transportation, driving around the campsite loops and seeing the decorations is always fun. so you can actually get more out of it than a character meal.
HOWEVER, i am not sure why you were told this. if you prefer a character meal, you should be able to achieve this.
while you should be able to bring 16 to a character meal, they may say you would have to be seated at several tables. i don't think there are any tables there big enough to fit 16 because they want you to have individual interactions with the characters. i would call back again and try another CM or just book several separate reservations under several names on the website

only caveat- this is assuming you are booking far enough ahead that there are still tables available. maybe you just didn't get a reservation early enough?

I agree that you should try again with another CM to see if you can get the reservation you need. I think the comment that your party is too big is ridiculous. We generaly travel with a large party once a year and have never had an issue getting a reservation anywhere as long as it was made in a timely manner.

That being said, Trail's End was good, but it can be hard to get to and it's rustic interior and simple food may not appeal to everyone.

We like Trail's End a lot. Basic "comfort food" simply prepared. Service is quite good; it is a buffet so service is pretty much limited to drinks and clearing plates. It is a bit of a challenge to get there, but Fort Wilderness is a nice area to explore.

Trail's End was just okay for me; my husband loved it and always tries to talk me into putting it on our itinerary again. The one thing that stood out for me was the salad bar. And I am also confused as to your not being able to get a reservation for your party at CP...they should definitely be able to accomodate you at 2 or 3 tables.
Have a magical Birthday!!

we were a party of 15 and ate at the crystal palace. when i made the reservation, we were told we might get split up. they put us at 2 tables right next to each other and we were very happy. we go to the crystal palace every trip.

i have never eaten at trail's end.
