Trails End Buffet

I need some help, please. Has anyone eaten at the Trail's End Buffet? Does it serve the same fried chicken and bbq ribs that the Hoop-de-doo does? Does it have a good atmosphere? And lastly, where is it exactly? Is it the restaurant right next to Frontier Hall? Thanks in advance:wave:

You are right--it is right next to Frontier Hall where Hoop-De-Doo is held.

Fried chicken and ribs are on the menu--rumor has it that they are the same, although I haven't been to H-D-D. It would make sense, since it looks very likely that they might share the same kitchen. (they share the same bathroom)

I had heard glowing reviews of the place, and my son LOVES mashed potatoes and shrimp. We had visions of his getting full as a tick and happy as a clam.

Well..........no mashed potatoes. They had the red skin-on potatoes. The shrimp was on the salad bar.

The cornbread and biscuits were displayed on an old iron stove. I expected something absolutely wonderful, and was really disappointed that both were room temperature. I really wanted the bread to be warm. (How hard can that be, really?)

It was....just OK. For the price, one could get very full. I'm glad I made it over there, but wouldn't go there again.

All you need to know about Trails End is that it has the best breakfast buffet on WDW property (In my opinion). You also don't have to fool with the characters here. Just a plain old food and I doubt you'll find a better deal.

Can't say I have eaten there any other time recently since we haven't stayed at Fort Wilderness since they built Port Orleans. Now all we go back there for is to eat the breakfast buffet and then we take a boat or bus over to the MK.

We ate there once for lunch during our last trip and I didn't care much for the atmosphere or the food. Nothing was very warm and it just felt odd sitting inside there. Of course, we were eating around 2 o'clock so that might explain why the food wasn't too good. They weren't going to bring out any fresh food right before closing.

We always found the food there quite good (pretty much standard buffet).
But like almost any buffet, it's a good price for all you can eat. And besides, it's only a motor launch away from MK. Eat dinner, digest a little while then return to mk for fireworks.

Gee, we were just there in December for a dinner buffet, and everyone in our family thought it was fantastic ! My husband can be rather hard to please and he STILL raves about the blackened tuna steaks. Considering that this is NOT a character experience we were surprised at the variety available. I would highly reccommend Trail's End, though getting there if you aren't staying at Fort Wilderness can take a while. The only downside I saw was the wait. I didn't think that PS would be necessary taking into account that it was value season and no characters/show. Turns out we had about a 40 minute wait. ( I'll be smarter next time !) IMHO the food was better than Crystal Palace, and for our part we enjoyed the rustic frontier decor.

Like everything Disney, look long enough and you find something that appeals to everyone's taste. Without a doubt you shouldn't leave Trail's End hungry !

Trails End now offers Priority Seatings.

Getting tables near Hoop Dee Doo time can be difficult.
