Trailers demo'ed, location?

Disney has filed permits for 3 backstage trailers to be demolished. First they disconnect the electrical and data, then disconnect the sewer lines, and finally tear down the buildings.

But where are those trailers? Lord knows Disney wont touch anything, particularly backstage, unless they're trying to come up with a new use for the land.

It says scientific trailers.. so maybe behind Land or Seas? But the location looks to be infront of the WDI building, which would make it behind Wonders of Life. Anyone know where these are?

The area is due east of M:S, west of the park substation and immiedietley north of the parks CEP.

Interestingly it`s in the cluster of company ride and show buildings (WDI, PICO) as you mentioned. Maybe it`s to clear space for the WDI office block they`ll need for all the forthcoming rehabs and new builds.

Or not :D

I was hoping they were the other trailers between Wonders and WDI, suggesting possible re-use of Wonders. Oh well, alteast there are still rumors out there about Wonders. Current one is that it gets gutted, the show buildings walled up, and it gets repainted to become a special events pavilion.

Those are the are ones I came up with. Looks like they are behind M:S. Still don't know what they are used for or why they are getting rid of them. It doesn't look like anything is to be gained by getting rid of them.

And there`s us thinking we had a new management team with new ideas..... at this rate the whole park will be special events with a few attractions inbetween.

So sad.

Does Disney have to file permits for everything they do?

You would be surprised at how many things you technically are required to file a permit for in the state of Florida. Disney lives under a microscope so they have to cross every T and dot every I.

Maybe they want to build a more structually sound building? Perhaps the trailers have fulfilled their useful lives and it's time to upgrade/enlarge?

If it is anything that involves any type of construction then it basically requires a permit.

If you want to add a wall outlet - need a permit

Replace carpet - need a permit

Paint some walls - need a permit

Of course every area of the country has their own local codes that can vary slightly.

Here in northern Ohio basically anything commercial or residential over $500.00 reaquires a permit. Technically if you buy a $600.00 door at Lowes and plan on putting it in yourself you still need a permit... install tile flooring yourself, yep you need a permit. I'm not saying that everyone pulls the permits but that is the way the rules are written.

Darn. Here I was hoping it was one of those temporary structures occupying space in the World Showcase expansion pods (for want of a better term).

That's just part of WDI restructuring. There used to be a separate division of WDI called Scientific Systems. Where all the programmers and computer gurus worked. They did all the programming and reprogramming of the rides and shows on property. Now they have merged them together with Ride and Show Engineering and split them into groups and will work mainly on just one park instead of all of them.

Actually, Florida has one unified building code. Some specifications will change, mainly wind code, depending on proximity to the ocean, rivers, cleared land etc but the counties no longer have the ability to change the codes as they see fit. Now of course this is how it is on the books. In practice it seems like each county decides which codes they want to enforce and of course if you read the code to 5 different people you will get 5 different interpretations.

As much as I'd like this demolition to mean much, it really can't ... can it? I mean, all of the money is going to these other potential projects: SSE, JII, O Canada, Japan, etc. If anything, this project would have to be a bit of a ways off.
