Traffic From Michigan?

We are a little over 2 days from hitting the road from Michigan and I'm wondering if anybody has driven down in the last week or two that can speak to construction on the way? We are coming down 31 to Indy then 65 to Nashville and 75 the rest of the way down. I know there are a couple of construction zones listed but just wondering how bad they really are. We are looking to avoid the rush hours in Indy and Nashville but I have a feeling we are going to get hit in Atlanta. :(

I know you asked for someone that has driven down lately, which I haven't but being north of Indy just thought I'd let you know that whenever we drove down to Disney, which has been quite a lot, we never had any problems until Atlanta, even when we were told there would be some construction along the way. But man, Atlanta has been a pain in our butts every single time. I'd plan on adding some time to your itinerary for that area. If you know ahead of time then maybe it won't be quite so frustrating. Have a great time!!

We actually took 65 from nashville to Birmingham to Montomery and over to Georgia to avoid
Atlanta.
Another time we made sure we were traveling in the wee hours past Atlanta.

I have been driving down from Indy for years. I have started avoiding Nashville as it always seems to have a lot of construction and really bad traffic. I would suggest when you hit Indy, take 74 to Cincinnati, then 75 to Atlanta. More scenic of a drive and you avoid Nashville. Atlanta is always a mess no matter when you hit it. Hope you have a good trip!

Atlanta traffic...
10am - 2pm is the best time to try to be getting through the ATL, or in the overnight hours. Be ready for it to be bad, then you won't be stressed. Schools are still in this week, but Spring Break is next week. The Friday evening rush will be extremely bad, and long.
Thank you, I think we have adjusted our leave time to try to hit during the 11 to noon time frame. Otherwise it was going to be around 3 to 4 and that would be ugly.

Atlanta is always a pain, unless you can hit it in the wee hours, like 2 am.
Unfortunately that wont work as ATL is 12 hours from us so we would have to leave about 2pm and we have too much stuff to do. With work, school, packing the car and getting the fur babies to the sitters we are going to try to get in a 3 hour nap and leave at 11 pm. Leaving at 11 should put us through Indy about 3 am, Nashville about 7 and ATL at 11 am. I think no matter how we do it we are going to hit rush hour somewhere.

We drove 75S to Disney in November... you should be fine around 11am. Our biggest problem was South GA... but that was due to an accident which obviously can’t be planned for.
I definitely recommend staying on 75 and not taking the bypass in Atlanta

Next week the traffic in the Atlanta region should be better, as most metro schools will be on Spring Break. The traffic the weekend of April 7-8 coming North (from Florida) will be very heavy if history repeats.
It could be worse, today (March 30) is the 1st anniversary of the I-85 bridge collapse, now that was bad traffic.
