Travelling for a 3 day buisness trip to Orlando, but you KNOW i cant go to orlando without stopping by my home away from home. so my question is since I am travelling light with just one carry-on bag will I be able to bring my trading pins along? or will TSA take them from me at the gate?

Surely not, there only metal pins which will go thro the detector and be giving the ok by airline security.

I took my trading bag with me when I traveled from FL to CA for the 50th Anniversary. Most of the time it's no big deal, they get guests with pins all the time. The only problem I ever had was someone couldn't see inside because of all the metal reflecting in the camera, so they had to take the bag out and flip through all the pages in the book and gave me the ok. Which I didn't mind because I got to show off my collection;)

We fly out of either Logan (Boston) or Portland (Maine) airports. Have never had a problem with security questioning my carrying on my Pin Bag which is full of pins that I plan to trade. Traveling home, twice, going through Orlando airport, I've been stopped, pulled aside so they can check the bag out. Once I was even questioned by a security guard, " Whats these for, what are you doing with these, why do you collect these?" I couldn't believe of all places they didn't recognize Disney pins. How many times must they have seen lanyards with pins, or pin bags?

OIA has never given me an issue. At all.

Other airports have questioned it, but always let me through after a supervisor comes and checks.

I've been questioned about other things, too. Rolls of quarters, whatever. They don't all know what is and isn't allowed.

A good friend of mine has an ex that I know well (from when they were married and from family events after the marriage) who is a TSA agent. They are not hiring the sharpest crayons in the box to do that job, lol.

I got a bit a chuckle when I had to pack some knitting needles in my checked baggage. I'm not complaining, I did understand, I was just hoping to pass time on the plane knitting (I'm old school like that)

Yet, the guy next to me had two blow torches in his carryon.:shrug:

I've flown out of BDL (Bradley Int't from Hartford) to MCO (Orlando) several times now. I always bring my traders with me in my carry on bag. To make life easier though, I just stick the pins in a gallon plastic bag and put them next to my shoes in those plastic bins. (That way they can see exactly what they are).

The one time I left my pins in the sealed pin trading bag within my backpack, security had to double check, but let me take them through.

Are you intending to bring pins you already have, or is this just about more that you will buy at WDW? In the case of the latter, I would think that MCO TSA would be well versed with the pins.

Just remember that at any time, TSA can decide to tell you no for anything, and not even give you a reason. I would never put something like that in checked luggage, ever. If it were me, I would get be informed as to where within the airport you can ship stuff. Just in case.
