Trader Sam's Question

42.56 minutes minus the relative Lumosity of the moon at midnight. Don't forget to take the universal gravitational constant into consideration that affects your wait time by up to + or - 87.4325 minutes. This is all only valid in months with a J or a P. In leap years and years that are prime numbers add an extra .34 seconds for each minutes after 6:43am is it (GMT)

Or

You never can tell

I apologize if I'm hijacking your thread but I have a question too and maybe someone can answer here instead of me starting my own thread. .....Just wondering how late Trader Sam's still serves food. We were thinking of getting there around 11-11:30pm and would like to get some snacks as well as drinks (we will be stopping there as soon as we get in from the airport). Thanks.

As for the OP's question, I've heard that Sundays can be kind of easy to get into (no first hand experience on this night), but it is tough to tell. We went on 5:30 on a Tuesday in the summer (right before the 4th of July) and there were tons of tables. We were surprised and expected a large wait.

A lot depends on what's going on at the time. Right now, they'ver got the special Haunted Mansion themed Tiki mug. Getting in is almost impossible until they run out of the day's allotment. That'll be over soon, but there might be something similar when you're there.

Outside the above, the place isn't as crazy as it was when it initially opened. Waits can be anywhere from walk-in to maybe an hour most nights.

This place looks fun from all that I've read on here. I hope I can visit next time I'm around.

Do they only make Polynesian cocktails or can they make whatever?

It's a normal bar too, but unless you hate rum you'd be missing some pretty tasty drinks. The Hippo Mai Tai (queue up Two Shots of Rum!) and Shrunken Zombie Head are my two current favorites. We've been there in March and October and so far its pretty consistent. The tapas IMHO are skip worthy.

I'm a fan of rum so that wont be a problem, I'm allergic to almonds so any Mai Tai's would be out for me (orgeat syrup). Maybe they can whip up a nice daiquiri instead. :hungry:

The Mai Tai is the only one of the specialty drinks on the menu that lists orgeat as an ingredient. It's not pre-mixed stuff pumped out of a vat so just ask your server ...they aim to please.

I figured it varies, but I also figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I'm hoping we're able to get over there during our trip at the end of the month.

We arrived at 9pm on a Wednesday and got a table straight away. It got busier as the night went on and it looked like everyone came straight in but there wasn't also always a free table, sometimes people had to take seats at the bar or the communal table as there aren't many small tables.

The OP (which you quoted) asked about wait times on Sunday nights.

Not "can I show up at 3:30pm, wait 30 minutes, and be all right?"

The OP didn't specify which time frame during the operating hours of 4 pm to midnight. .seating is first come first serve . So if the OP had been specific as to time frame and number of guests a more accurate estimate could be made for potential inside seating.

You added zero value, move along.

Not sure if this is known yet but do you need to purchase a specialty drink to get the HM tiki mug or just purchase the mug directly?

OP, hard to say. Do you want to at inside? Or is the patio ok? I love the inside, but ate at the patio last week (couldn't wait another hour after already waiting 1 1/2 See Below for details) and that was pretty sweet as well. Admittedly it was gorgeous weather out, but chilling with a slight breeze, like uke music and a few tiki drinks was a great way to do dinner. The grotto itself only seats 51, so it will depend on how often it turns over. I wouldn't think it would be terribly long, especially if you don't mind spending 30-45 mins chilling outside, but all you need is one wedding/bachelor/bachelorette party of 20 spending 3 hours to really kill the turnover rate.

You needed to buy the drink w/mug. And it needed to be done inside at the bar. And they sold out of the last mug on Saturday. I was 11 people from getting a wrist band, even hung out an hour or so while they double and triple counted to make sure everyone who had a wristband was buying one, but no luck. Just bad timing, had to wait for 2 trains (we promised our DS he could ride the train back) and then for 2 monorails, otherwise I would have had one. The CMs specifically said these were the absolute last mugs they had to sell, and they couldn't sell the ones they were using to serve. (If they lied I wouldn't have been happy, was willing to go back on Sunday since I knew how fast they would go) They lasted about 10 days, so figure 2,000 or so mugs in total on the East coast. May have been less due to Matthew related closures, not sure how they handled those.

Mug is sold out but you could purchase the mug only for the same price as the mug and drink. So kind of a waste.
