tracy & alex's trip report

hey everyone,

we just got back from a week at the world. we were there for our honeymoon and we had a great time!!!!!!!!! we stayed at the polynesian in the tahiti longhouse. we really liked the location, although some poeple will think that it's far from the main lobby we really enjoyed the walks in the morning and evening. the beach down there is really private with great views and a very comfy hammock :snore: .

we arrived and monday 4/24 and had dinner reservations at o'hana's at 8pm. we checked in early, so we went to the bar and had the drinks in the pineapple!!! they were awsome. by 8:15 we were wondering what had happened to our table and contemplating asking about it. as soon as i got up, our buzzer went off. apparently they had been waiting for a table with a view for us. we were seated at the window with a view of the castle and space mountain. the food was awsome, we loved all of it. our only complaint was the peel and eat shrimp, i don't eat shrimp, but alex was getting tired of peeling. i absolutley loved the peanut sauce. we thought the kids games were very cute. oh and we got to see the water pageant fro the first time right from our seats!!! as we were walking out of the great ceremonial house wishes started and we ran down to the beach to see it. our first night was perfect!!!

next - day 1 - the magic kingdom

mk day

we ate at kona cafe for breakfast. i had the pineapple macademia nut pancakes and alex had the tonga toast, both were excellent. for our honeymoon we got the standard cream puffs and congratulations written in chocolate. a nice surprise.

we got to the magic kingdom around 10 am, got our wedding buttons, and found almost no lines. buzz was walk on and space mountain was 20 min wait. we saw stitch's great esacpe for the first time - not at all impressed. we too would like alien encounter back. the longest wait time was 60 min for splash mountain, the longest we waited was 40 min for peter pan. why is the line for peter pan so long? we were puzzled by this the whole week, every time we went past the line was huge. since we had gotten a fp for pooh we decided to just wait. later that night right before wishes alex went on splash with a 5 min wait.

lunch was crt. we really enjoyed it. after we checked in we got our picture taken with cinderella. for our meals i had the salmon and alex had the major domo's favorite pie, both were very good. the princesses were jasmine, belle, aurora, and snow white. for our honeymoon treat we received free champagne glasses engraved with the crt logo - very nice!!!

dinner was chef mickey's. after we checked in, they gave us the slip to get our picture taken and we thought it was like crt (included with the price of the meal) boy were we surprised!!! when the girl brought our picture she said that will be $16.95 (or whatever exorbinent price they charge) and we told her no way, we wouldn't have taken the picture if we knew we would have had to pay for it. anyway, the food and characters we great - mickey, goofy, chip, dale, and donald were there. all in all a great meal.

oh i almost forgot, i had my first dole whip - awsome. one thing i did notice was that there is some sort of construction going on across from the dole whip conter in adventureland. anyone know what this is?

ak day

breakfast was donald's breakfastosaurus. the food was average, but the servers and the characters were awsome. we really liked seeing the characters dressed up in their safari attire. our server took tons of pictures for us and the characters spent plenty of time with us. the characters were mickey, pluto, donald and goofy.

lunch was tusker house - great as always. our only complaint was that there was no where for us to sit. i know there are tons of tables both inside and out, but all were full when we went to eat at about 1:30. other than that, a great place to eat.

dinner was jiko - big disappointment. we had heard great things about this place and were very excited to eat here and check out the hotel ;) . first off, we waited a very long time to be seated even though we had a reservation. when were finally seated, we noticed that we were under-dressed (i guess that is my fault, for some reason i didn't realize that showing up in park attire was not really appropriate :hammer: ). after waiting about 10 mins our waiter finally showed up and attempted to explain the menu and recommed the most expensive things on the menu. for our drinks we just ordered water cause we are not wie drinkers had plenty of soda already that day. after grudgingly bringing us water and no appetizer (saving room for dessert) we ordered our food. that was the last time we saw our waiter!! our waiter helped all or his other tables around us, but we never got so much as a glance from him, even after someone from the kitchen brought our food. we felt that because of the way were dressed and the lack of money we were spending we were being ignored. we complained to the manager who brought us refills on our water and gave us a free dessert, but didn't seem to care much. on a good note, we liked the food, but were very disappointed with the service. we're not sure if we will go back there again.

ok, so ak. first off, everest is awsome!!!!!! we rode it twice, nothing compares to the real thing. one thing we found odd was that the merchandise in the store depicts the yeti as the white abominal snowman, but in the ride he's brown. what's that all about? we noticed a crane working on the theatre in the wild. we saw the festival of the lion king for the first time and really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. wait times weren't too bad, but we did get a fp for ee, kali river rapids and ks. we actually met flik in camp minie-mickey. we were excited cause we had never seen him before.

next - epcot

epcot

hey, sorry this took so long our internet stopped working and at 2 am i gave up.

breakfast was sunshine seasons - just ok. there wasn't much selection. i had some cereal and strawberries and cream. alex had a bagel and butter and was disappointed that they wouldn't toast the bagel for him.

lunch was garden grill - awsome. all of the food was woderful!! there was beef with a mushroom and wine sauce (excellent), turkey with a cranberry sauce (very good), fried catfish (i tried it for the first time and loved it), cheesy potatoes (excellent), and veggies (very good). of couse our favorite part was the characters (mickey, chip, dale, and pluto) in their farmer attire. it was also cool to see the different scences from living with the land as the restraunt turned.

dinner was teppanyaki in japan - just ok. the food was average and the chef was mildly entertaining. we actually like our local teppanyaki place better. in our opinon it's just not worth the money.

ok rides and stuff. soarin is awsome. it was our first time being on it and it is one of our favorites. we were lucky to be in the front and smell the oranges and feel the ocean spray and not have to see dangling feet. turtle talk is still packing them in, so we didn't get to see it, but we liked the nemo additions to the rest of the pavillion. while on the monorail i noticed that the "the living seas" is still missing from the rock formation at the now covered enterance. china and japan both have tarps up. in the building under the tarp, china has an exhibit on HKDL - very interesting and cool to see all of the concept art and models.

next - bb & mgm

bb & mgm

breakfast was ohana's - excellent. all of the food was great, our server wasn't the most attentive, but we weren't there to see her anyway. the characters (mickey, pluto, lilo, & stitch) were great. lilo and pluto had a bit of an issue - lilo kept tying pluto's tail in knots  .

lunch was pizza planet - ok. alex always makes us eat here. i don't like it very much, but alex just thinks it's the best (he loves toy story).

dinner was 50's prime time cafe - great. our server aunt janice was great, she played the part perfectly. alex "got in trouble" a few times - once for wearing a hat, once for having his elbows on the table, and once for stretching at the table. alex had the meatloaf and really liked it. i had the pot roast and it was excellent. for dessert i had the s'mores and alex had cheesecake, both were very good. it was alex's first time eating there and he loved it.

bb was lots of fun, not too busy. the longest wait was 10 min. neither one of us braves summit plummit, but went on everything else and had a great time. it was my first time going to bb (i'm a little scared of the water slides).

mgm was good too. we saw beauty and the beast for the first time and really enjoyed it. both rnrc and tot had 50 min waits most of the day. we waited till 8pm to go on rnrc and had about a 10 min wait.

random stuff

on sunday morning we went to ohana's on a whim and are so happy that we did. we were seated almost immediately. we had forgotten our camera, but the characters didn't care. stitch posed for an imaginary photo, lilo "destroyed" alex's seminole hat (we found out that lilo is a gator fan  ), and pluto made us dance with him in the parade.

on monday we ate whispering canyon for breakfast. for anyone who hasn't eaten there, it is an experience. the ketchup thing is hilarious (the little boy at the table next to us have to time of his life delivering the ketchup). while we were waiting for our food, our server got the microphone and called us up to the front of the restraunt. all the servers sang to us and made us dance in front of everyone. oh and the food was really good too!!!

for those of you who haven't tried it, photopass is awsome. we have tons of really great pics. alex figured out how to download them so that we can print them for much cheaper.

if anyone has any specific questions, please fell free to ask. sorry we don't really have pics, most of the pices we took were of ourselves :lookaroun

yeah us too. donald's wasn't the worst food, but definately not the best. the characters totally make up for it though. that and chef mickey's were the only times we got to see donald.

well, at first we couldn't find the groom hats. then i remembered reading on here that the mk has the buttons, so we opted for those instead. alex wasn't really excited about the ears anyway :hammer:

one more thing

oh, i just remembered that on sunday when we were in epcot ellen's eergy adventure was closed. anyone know why?

oh and we ate at alfredo di roma and loved it. the food was delicious and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. the guy playing the accoridan was awsome and all the waiters singing were very entertaining. we do agree with others that the tables are really close together and it is very loud in that restraunt.

Congratulations! We have just got married (Friday 28th April) and will be heading down to the Animal Kingdom Lodge this Friday for 2 weeks at WDW

:sohappy:

Where do you get the "just married" buttons? From the Town Hall or Guest Relations on Main Street? Do you just ask for them at the counter? And does each park have different buttons?

Thanks

Congrats to You and Alex Tracy! I love the Whispering Canyon, I went on my 18th birthday and they made me do something similar, I had to stand on a table and had everyone sing Happy Birthday to me, which was embarassing enough but then they said so if there are any single men out there in the restaurant. I was super embarassed but it was fun and I always remember it.

the buttons say magical wishes and have a picture of mickey and minnie in gown & tux. yes you get them at town hall, just ask for the wedding button. as far as we could tell all the parks have the same button. i highly recommed getting them. the buttons are free and you get tons of extra attention from cms and characters and of course free stuff.

congrats & enjoy
