Track Course A & B

Did imagineers originally have a plan for "Track Course B" when they were designing Test Track? I remember in the pre-show the lady at the control board asks the guy if he wants her to set up the off-road or the handling tests...and I was wondering if "B" was originally going to be the off-road track. I do enjoy the Test Track (I know I may be alone...but to redeem myself, it's NOT better than WoM). I like the high-speed part but I would give it up in a second to do some really cool off-roading!!! (but then again...I guess it would be real similar to DINOSAUR)

I think it's just there, or it could lead to maintenance.
I think the speed part needs to be longer, by the time you hit top speed, you duck into the building.
I think it would be cool if they added an extra lap, a big oval continuing from where you duck in. Then over-lap the big left turn, straight away, and the turn in front. This could be above or below part of the track

I'm sure that part of the ride and video are set up just for show. Actually, for the very reason you put up this thread! It makes you think much more than you need to, and makes it more interesting. Disney does this quite a bit, and I love it!:D

Yes, it is the maintainance bay back there. Four bays. Two in the ride to add more cars (after break test, and track corse B) and right before the load/unload bay and hill climb.

That would be a great idea though:animwink:

well, is it true that the attraction was planned to be A LOT better but because of the problems they faced, turned it into the present day Test Track??? I heard that the original plans had the speeds of up to 90mph...but in order to do these speeds, the banks of the turns would have to be a lot steeper and unsafe if people had to get off of the attraction in the even of an emergency.

There is always a trade off between speed and runtime of the attraction. People complain the outside section is too short as it is, going at 90mph would make it even shorter! I also believe at some stage I read that they decided going to fast would be iresponsible of them, in the context of it being a road car simulation. :)

Actually..the current banking of the track is set up so the cars can go MUCH faster..they dont do it because some people wouldnt be able to take it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me...I always thought that it would've taken away from "road car experience" if they went over 65...but come on...who actually drives 65 nowadays??? And...it's kinda deceiving because in the preshow they show a corvette doing the corners...(a car completely built for speed)

Yea, wouldn't that be cool if Track B was another adventure, kinda like the the Western/Mobster tracks on The Great Movie Ride. That would have been cool...:)

I will see if I can dig out the Opening Guide for TT, and I think it gives details of the speed decision. :)
