I have the week off, so I've decided to experiment with HDR photography.

If you don't know what it is, then read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging

Anywho, these are my first two attempts, just looking for suggestions, critiques, etc.

Those first two went through the HDR merge process in photoshop... I am now trying Photomatix Pro 3. So far, I am pleased with the results.. will post when they're done.

Love the shots Rob.

I think the HDR technique creates such a saturation, that it makes them almost look painting like.

I'm too lazy to take multiple pictures, so I've only ever done HDR via a single raw file (which actually isn't HDR, just tone mapping, but it's close enough in my opinion). I use a photomatix plugin in Photoshop.

Here's one shot:

I really like the last "Hotel" picture. The noise from the HDR conversion makes it look almost like a painting done in pointillism. Great work!

That BTMRR shot is amazing!

Here's another one I just made. I don't think HDR has quite the same effect in B&W, but it's sort of cool:

Actually I think it is still HDR just not as much dynamic range as you could get with mutiple shots... since Raw has enough data that your can get the equivalent of about 1/2 a stop over and under... maybe a full stop... though using multiple shots you would have beyond 1 full stop over under... frankly doing a HDR with a Raw file usually is good enough... not to mention you don't have the problems with wind or camera shack (which is a issue with some of the shots in this thread)... if people are in the photo Raw is really the only way to go since most people wont hold still long enough for multiple shots.
