Toy Story Mania

One of the most overrated and boring attractions in Disney history. The only redeeming feature is the queue. It's like a bargain bin wii game with vertigo.

In case you haven't noticed I'm not a fan.

Do you think it is over rated. Don't get me wrong my whole family loves it but the mad rush for fast passes every morning at rope drop and 2 hour waits even on slower days. Is it all worth it?
The answer is yes and no. Our last trip was the first one in which we gave this ride a shot. It was awesome. Speaking for my family, we put it behind only Splash as favorite ride in all of WDW. It is definitely on line with POTC, if not slightly ahead for us.

That being said, a 2 hour wait for any ride, much less one as short as TSMM, would break me. I think the constantly outrageous wait times, and mad dashes to FP is as much an indictment of the park as it is an endorsement of the ride. I am a confirmed coward, and I know there are others out there. I cannot/will not ride TOT or RnR. What does that leave you? I ride Star Tours 5 times, I hit up LM, I do the Great Movie Ride, I watch Indiana Jones (which I absolutely love, but could use a script change or something), I do Muppets 3D, heck I even do the backlot tour. What else does that leave me other than waiting out a 2 hour wait for a ride that has issued all of its FPs, or sit there and begin to wonder if park hopper would have been worth it. You know, last trip we had park hopper, and I left thinking, wow, that DHS is awesome. I could spend days and days there. Nope. Try it guys. If you are a coward like me, DHS can be done by 2:00pm. At which time the only reason to push on is the parade.

Secondly, Toy Story Mania is a very basic, bland attraction. It's essentially a moving video game. I could almost get the same exact experience at home if I played the Toy Story Mania game on the PS3 or Wii while rolling around on a computer chair with a fan blowing in my face from time to time.

And I could experience Space Mountain by sitting in my office chair and getting pushed down my driveway at night...

We teased our daughter who broke her foot right before the trip that she 'took one for the team' so we could use the wheelchair pass for this ride. All in fun to make her laugh through tears. This was the one ride that it really truly did play to our advantage. Of course not worth the pain my daughter had to go through but we thanked the 'Disney gods' ;). We went late at night on a EMH but the line was still 90 minutes. We had a 10 minute wait in the chair line. Then for those that have not ridden the handicap cars are pulled out to a seperate line, which I find a brilliant design so that they do not delay the normal car line while loading. Anyway when we returned there was noone in the handicap line so she asked if we wanted to remain and ride again. Hmmm.... Let me think for a second on that. ;). Nope, dont feel guilty one bit because they could not pull anyone from the long line so the cars would have went empty anyway. Only bad note is her dad and I are separated so of course VERY competitive. He beat me by 300 points!!!! Grrr.... ;)

My wife and I love this ride, we try to fastpass it or sometimes been lucky with wait times of less than 15mins.
We are very competitve against each other and blisters on fingers and thumbs are not unknown.

It's a lot of fun, but the wait times make no sense to me at this point since the ride has been around for a few years now. If any DHS attraction deserves a 2 hour wait it's ToT in my opinon (although I wouldn't wait 2 hour for any attraction).

If there was more substance to the park then it would have the same wait time as its' sister attraction in TL but since there is so little to do in the park in terms of real rides they all get swamped.
I agree. Its a double whammy with toy story. Not only is there a lack of rides in the park, but there is almost nothing for the entire family to do together. In my house its a 4yr old, 11yr old and my wife and I. This makes TSMM a must ride for us. Not because its the greatest ride to ever grace the theme park world, but because its the only ride we can do as a family at the studios. I do really enjoy the ride, but I would say it is one of the most over rated attractions in all the parks.

no. especially after they released almost the whole game for the wii. I can play it at home, so no fp, no ride. no way am I waiting an hour for that!

I always have a few bones to pick with this ride:

First: Capacity sucks, and FP doesn't help at all. Enough said. And running more RVs is not the answer. I've seen it to the point where they're running so many that the ride is backed up after the second screen. I mean, each RV can only seat 8 people. If they made them just a few inches wider they could seat 3 per row all the time and seat 12 people per RV.

Second: They totally missed the opportunity to have the screens interact with physical sets. How awesome would it be to hit something on the screen and have a physical set piece/pieces move, maybe revealing smaller screens with targets off to the side of the main screen. It feels like I'm in a warehouse watching video screens.

It just feels like the whole concept was rushed. Sort of like "Hey! We developed this new gaming tech, lets throw it in a ride!" instead of "Let's implement some other stuff with this tech to create a mind blowing experience!"

Cute ride. but I went to the Studios twice earlier in the month and skipped it. Convinced the 9 year old her fastpasses were better off being used for TOT & RNR. And then just didn't tell the 2.5 year old. Have to agree with some others. It's a Wii game with awesome themeing. But no ride is worth 2 hours in line.

The queue is very cute. Me, I find it to be a very slow moving queue for a slow load attraction. I think many confuse low guest per hour count to long line means it is an E attraction.

I can take it or leave it depending on the wait time.

overrated... no way, no way.

Now, waiting 2 hours for it... absolutely not but that doesn't mean the attraction itself isn't gold.

1.) competitive nature... everyone likes to win, compete against the wife/husband etc
2.) variety... even though it's the same game, there are a multitude of ways to approach each one.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I must be the only person not impressed with the queue. It does absolutely nothing for me.
I enjoy the ride, but mainly because I am very competitive. Unfortunately, this year, my 19 year old niece handed me my behind on a platter. Turns out, she has the game for Wii, and had been practising.
This past trip, we FP'd it once, stood in Stand-by at closing once (45 mins), and unfortunately let a set of FP's expire.
Two hours? Not this girl.
