TSL is not meant to compete with Potter - at all.
Star Wars will be Disney's answer to Potter.
There is one way that TSL might win out over Potter though:
That is if a family has little kids, too young to watch or understand Potter - but right smack in the sweet spot for Toy Story.

I think Toy Story has a much narrower demographic appeal tho. like, 2-7. Potter more like 5-25. Lol, or 4-99.
I agree about Star Wars. Done right, it will change the whole playing field between the two parks.

But I can safely say that it would not be the midpoint between the two lands... ....skewing much closer to Bugsland.

Only because the dark ride is better than chew chew train.

Upon a second thought and to be more equitable I now feel ToyStory would be midway(see what I did there) between Bugsland and Carsland. Bugsland is just about the lowest level for a land that a Disney or Universal will go. ToyStory is cheap, no doubt, but not anywhere near Bugs caliber.

The budgets for both areas were similar, which demonstrates how badly WDI blows through money on even "small" projects.

Agreed. JK Rowling actually cares about what projects get built using her character's names.
Pixar doesn't. As evidenced by this land...and Pixar Pier...and the Chew Chew Train...and Toy Story: The Musical...
