I stayed in one several years ago. My recollection is that the bus transportation was poor, and you really need a car to get around there. (there is a grocery at Crosslands, not too far away by car)

I recall the unit having cathedral ceilings, with partitions(that had openings at the top), rather than walls, between the rooms. Since we were travelling with an infant, this did not give us enough "noise buffer" during the night. This may not be the case in your unit. If you don't mind driving, it's nice to be able to have breakfast and late night snacks "at home."

I don't think I was too clear...the bedroom had a DOOR, the wall just didn't go to the ceiling! Also, it may be different in a larger townhouse; I think ours was only a 1 bedroom, but I can't remember.

I know ours was on one (so probably a 1 bedroom) level, so that would explain the open walls. It appears that the 2 level units must have full length walls.

Unless you're really, really quiet! No arguments, no discussing your friends, no "whatever"!

We have stayed in all the units at the Disney Institute and yes, the second bedroom is a "loft" style bedroom, but it is difficult to hear things downstairs from that room. Also, if it will be two couples going, be sure and request a two bedroom with a Queen/Double in both bedrooms, otherwise, it will be a queen in the "main" bedroom and two singles in the "loft" bedroom. It was nice that each bedroom had their own bath and we also had a half bath downstairs.

And speaking of the "noises", if anyone every heard us, they never let on that they did. :animwink:

I love this resort because it is quiet and the bus transportation isn't to bad. If you like Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island, or West Side, it is a short walk from the two-bedroom townhomes.

Give it a try at least once, because you may enjoy it where others may not. I have stayed at that resort approximately 15 times.

Once you stay in Old Key West, you won't want to go back to Value resorts. At least that was my wife and my experiences.

If I may be so impolitic, what was the deal, and how did you get it?

Nah, I think we'll make it at the All Star's again.. gonna have to. We go to Disney quite often (sometimes once a month, or as in this month's case.. twice lol), so staying at the Key West resort all the time would be painful on my wallet... besides, I've stayed at the Yacht Club several times, which is a Deluxe resort, and gone back to the All Star. :)

We managed to price haggle a bit w/ the Disney associate on the phone till we were able to get the 2 bedroom villa for $300 a night.. (normally $459). So b/w two couples it's great! They weren't discounting much for the CAY code (annual pass holder) so after asking a bit more & more, we were able to get that price... we also made it a point to mention the price they offered us on the Institute townhouse, and that we were willing to spend a bit more, but not too much more for having two FULL bedrooms :)

Lucky ! For you, these are "trips"; for us these are "Vacations" (with a capital V). Because we go only once a year, or so, we splurge a bit -- being DVC members puts us into the deluxe resorts anyway.
