Towncar Service

We've decided to book a towncar from Sanford to SSR in July rather than going the route of a shuttle. Anyone have some top picks? I think I read somewhere on the boards about Happy Limo and Quicksilver? Your imput would be appreciated. We've always flown into MCO and had Disney transportation....we're now in uncharted waters!

Sorry....somehow I think I've posted this twice!

We used Sunray Transportation and were extremely pleased. We are not eligible for ME (staying at Shades of Green). We took Mears (they run ME) and stopped at 3 resorts before getting to ours, lucky us ours was the last stop. We got to the Contemporary and the bus driver was stopped and chewed out by people waiting for a bus that was late and held us up even longer. With the price being close to equal, it was well worth it. Using Sunray again in October:ROFLOL:

We have been very pleased in using Quicksilver. They are reliable, fixed cost, have options for grocery/supply stop and take less time than bus/shuttle transport. Contact information is on the front page of the WDWMagic site (center column, scroll down).

I always use Quicksilver. They have been with us here on WDWMAGIC as a sponsor for years, and you'll find nothing but positive comments about them from everyone here who has used them.

I'm going to trust fellow WDWMagic-ers on this one...I was just looking at transportation companies today and low and behold, this question was asked!

We just don't want to wait around for Magical Express. We'd rather pay and get there on our own schedule. Looks like they will make a stop for groceries/beer too...AWESOME!!!

We've used Tiffaney's Town cars for years. They have always been more than nice, and had good customer service, but in the last few trips we have been less impressed with their driving.

So I think this time we will give Quicksilver a try.

Just so you know, time-wise it'll all be about the same. Instead of "waiting around for Magical Express," you'll be waiting around for your bags at baggage claim, and then for the driver to walk back to the "bullpen" to retrieve the vehicle (this part [getting the vehicle], according to drivers themselves who've posted, can take 10 or 15 minutes after the initial meet-n-greet at the baggage claim level). That's why, time-wise, they're pretty much the same. Both involve waits ... just different waits.

In fact, if you take advantage of the car service's 30-minute grocery stop, you will get to your room slower than if you took DME and ordered a grocery delivery.

I'm not trying to change your mind, but just didn't want you to have the inaccurate impression that a car service is necessarily faster than DME.

Agreed! We'd MUCH rather do DME - we've had excellent experiences in the past. Unfortunately, DME doesn't run from Sanford so we're stuck with a towncar/shuttle.

We used Tiffany's for the first time this year and the driver who took us to Disney was a great guy. Good driver and very friendly.
The guy who picked us up from Disney wasn't as great (still an okay driver, but he talked on his cell phone the whole drive,) but when I discovered I had left my purse in the car, he promptly returned with it just before our departure.

Not bad. If we end up taking the train down, I'd use Tiffany's again.

Hello everyone,

I had to intrude...

I must clarify that we at Quicksilver DO NOT leave our vehicles at the "Bullpen" as mentioned above; some other companies do to save in gate fees.

We will meet and greet you, wait for your luggage which in average takes 15 minutes after you come down to baggage claim, and then straight down one level to the vehicle which is actualy parked at what we call the CVPA (30 seconds from where you'll be).
After you arrive at the baggage claim area you should be on your way to the resort (or groceries first) in aprox. 20 minutes.

ME could be faster if airport is not busy (low season) at the time you arrive, if you are lucky to be one of the first to be in line for check-in and again lucky your bus to your destination has not just left and you have to wait for the next one to be filled up...
Please don't take me wrong, ME is great for what it is, but please understand there is NO comparison with a private service if you prefer to be riding with just your family straight to YOUR resort.

Best regards to all,

Gregory Nicolas.

Thanks for the "intrusion" ... good to know!

Absolutely. There's a type of ground transportation for every want and every wallet.

Some people (like me) like the idea of getting to the resort for free as long as it's done well ... DME is the answer.

Some people want private, personalized, and guaranteed non-stop service in style ... a car service is the answer.

Some people are more comfortable being in control and/or want more transportation options during their stay ... a rental car is the answer.

Some people just hate the idea of planning anything in advance and just want to "get there" regardless of the experience or the level of service ... a taxi is the answer.

We have used Quiksilver the last four trips we have made to WDW. As for being faster than DME, it is probably the same but that is due to the slow baggage claim, not the car service. As soon as we get our bags, the car is brought around and we are on our way in 5 minutes. In the past, we have arrived at the hotel approx 1 1/2 hours after the plane lands. And you can't beat the grocery stop. We will definitely be using them again for our upcoming trip.

:wave:We used Happy Limo Earlier this year and they were Great! We had a very very friendly Driver and He met Us right outside the baggage pickup. He called ahead of time to see where We were at the time so He could tell Us exactly where We could Meet up. It was fantastic to pull our bags off the belt and walk right into a waiting car. Highly recomended!

Hi we used Quicksilver in 2005 and the driver was waiting for us with our name on a piece of card. It was a great service and we would use them again. Only problem we had was we couldnt find the soft drinks (driver told us to help ourselves). It was only when we were about 2 mins from the hotel we discovered them buried in the ice box to keep em cool!!! Must learn to be more nosey!!

We have used Quicksilver a couple of times so far and will again for our December trip.

Their service has been excellent. This past September we had an unexpected 5 hour delay (darn AirTran cancelled the flight right when it was supposed to board) and Quicksilver was there to pick us up no problem.

We did call a couple of times because we were nervous and they called us back as soon as they had the message and it was no problem.

Then we decided to stay an extra day because we missed a lot of our first day (thanks again AirTran) and we called as soon as we made the decision and again it was no problem with only a few days advance notice.

The service, cleanliness and responsiveness of Quicksilver definitely keeps us as customers.
