Town Square Theater Re-Purpose Possibilities

It's been years since i've walked into the the Town Square Theater, but is that building only being used for the Meet & Greet of Mickey and Tinker bell? It looks like a pretty big building that could be turned into a cool new themed restaurant and move the M&Gs to another location like the current space of Stitch. I'd love to see a 1920's era ballroom style restaurant with maybe a small jazz orchestra playing while guests eat and female staff wearing flapper dresses. It would fit so well with the Main Street feel. I'd love to hear other peoples opinion on this building and possibilities. And do others think MK could use another TS restaurant?

I agree that the building could be put to better use than for M&Gs, though they are very popular with a lot of people. I don't think another restaurant is the best use for the space either and the 1920's isn't quite the right period for Main Street anyway. I would love a small gallery of Disney history like Disneyland has at their Opera House, especially if One Man's Dream closes at the Studios as many expect it will.

I used to enjoy wandering through the back area of the Town Square Theatre years ago when they had a variety of display cases with Disney memorabilia in them. There were also fun cut out displays where kids could stand behind and have their photos taken. It would make a great site to spotlight Walt and others contributions.

When I was a kid in the late 70's/early 80's I would never miss walking through there on every trip. My favorite thing was the giant Epcot model that was there before Epcot actually opened. I would stand and look at that thing forever...

My first time ever at WDW was in 1979, and this model was indeed there. That was the first time I saw the plans to turn E.P.C.O.T. into a theme park. I asked the CM there what happened to Walt's plans for E.P.C.O.T. to be a real city. He looked at me all confused, and said that it was always going to be a theme park. I just shook my head and walked away . . . . .

Well, you missed that opportunity....About 24 years ago....http://www.omniluxe.net/wyw/wds.htm

The coolest thing that was there just before they re-imagined the building was the Mural you encountered just before you entered the Theater. It's like a time capsule where it stopped...Right at 1985 with The Black Cauldron..

OMG!!! I have a picture of myself standing in front of this mural when I'm like 6 or 7 years old! And I can vividly remember taking that picture that day. I'm SO glad that you posted this!

Actually I got to see it on my first trip to the World in 1979. I don't remember the other displays but I do remember (and loved) this mural. I too have a picture of me in front of it and was very disappointed when they redid the building, getting rid of it (eve thought it hadn't been accessible for years.)

Fun Fact! While your in the small inner queue area before you meet Mickey you'll see a bunch of mail slots...One of them has a smaller version of the mural rolled up...
