Tower of Terror effects status watch

We have more projection fixes (well, color corrections in this case as the window is still mirrored), this time in Charlie. Strange that it’s about 2 months apart from the last fix and not sure if Bravo or Delta have similar changes rn but it’s nice to see it wasn’t just a one time thing:

(noticed the ghost projection is slightly offset)

Good to see they didn't forget about this. Looks like the projectors were moved around. I do think that because of it not being centered, it confirms my theory about the floor projection being from a separate projector, as that still looks like it is centered:

Wish they would also adjust the zoom on the ghost projector, it's much more smaller than what it should be at. Another thing I've noticed is that after the change, the window projector isn't turning off after the projection finishes.

Huh. Good observation. Yeah the projection is not only off-centered but not displaying at the right size. These are literally tweaks you can change on the projector itself with only minimal AV knowledge. This is why Disney needs a dedicated AV team for their rides like Universal has.

Also lol at the woman saying "I didn't realize this was a Twilight Zone theme" while already on the ride. I hope she was being sarcastic!

We rode yesterday and I noticed the ghosts were smaller, and their feet didn’t touch the ground like (I thought) normally.

If you notice a flaw in Tower of Terror, it's almost certainly due to improper maintenance. I'm certain they're supposed to touch the ground

Yeah this seems to be an issue in just this shaft strangely enough, the window projection not turning off was also happening before the changes IIRC.

Also did anyone catch the weird automated voice at the end of the video? Seemed to be listing off ride stats or something and sounded like it was coming from the same speakers as the return spiel (may be unrelated but very strange nonetheless)

Well, the change was reversed sometime in the past week on Bravo, it's now back to displaying in grayscale again. I wish I was making this up. Unsure about the other shafts.

l thought there’s not supposed to be a floor projection at all? It’s not in older ride-throughs or any of the other towers that I could see

There is nothing that indicates this is happening, at least not to the original.
I feel it’s only a matter of time. Going forward I am going to treat all attractions, especially the old ones as it’s the last time I will get to ride it.

I remember looking down the streets of America and seeing the wonderful, beautiful Osborne lights and knowing it was getting destroyed and I will look upon all attractions now in the same way. What makes the pain worse for me is I think what we got as the replacement was not worth the loss of the Osborne lights.

There was an attraction that in 2019 that I will not name, I was about step into and I changed my mind and did not go into that is now currently closed and I am almost sure will never open in its original form again and I regret not seeing it for the last time.

I really hope I get one last ride on the riverboat to take in the beautiful rivers of America and one last explore of Tom Sawyer island and the fort before these are destroyed.

I noticed that some boiler room water effects were on today? I also noticed that the binaural audio Rod Serling outro in the library was on. I have both not seen/heard those in years.

Chiming in on the floor projections. The WDS (Paris) show set design drawings show a projector in that spot, listed as “ghost pools.” I think it was meant to project onto the floor so the ghosts blended better with the 3D scene. If the DHS version has the same setup, maybe the footage was accidentally swapped or a blur effect was removed, making it look like a reflection or copy of the hotel guests projection. Could also have something to do with the mirror.

I very much don't think this has anything to do with the mirror/scrim. What settled it for me was when the colors were fixed, it still looked like the floor reflection was still in grayscale, and on Charlie where the ghost projection is tiny currently, the floor reflection is no longer aligned(look at the left ghost).

I agree. I still wonder whether that third projector was always there and, if so, what it was originally designed for. Just to clarify, I meant the mirror in front of the projector itself, not the angled glass used for the ghost projection. I just meant that the "floor" projector setup might have physically changed, changing the overall look of the effect. Other possibilities are that the footage itself was swapped out, or that a blur/softening effect originally present is no longer applied. Given that TOT has received relatively little attention on the show side, I’d be surprised if this were a completely new effect. Especially since it only takes away from the illusion in my opinion.
