Totally not worth it?

Haunted Mansion. What is the point? According to Ghost Hunters, Ghost Lab, etc every single building, cave, tree, shed, mine, etc has excessive real ghost activity. Why do I need to pay $80 to see the fake stuff? I can apparently just turn the lights off in my house and be accosted by a real poltergeist for free.

If you have not yet been accosted by a real poltergeist, for free or not, THAT is one reason why you would go on HM.

I can't really pick up one thing in particular but one ride I haven't ridden has been Soarin'; and now thanks to the responses on this thread I don't think I will waste my time in line.
I agree,it's not worth it.What a waste of time.( I know, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit ) but the more people stay away from my favourite ride, the more I get on it.

Do any of you have a ride that is supposed to be great... and you just don't get it? A ride that you don't think is worth waiting in line for?

For me, it's Test Track. It's just a car. I drive faster than that on the highway. I think it's lame-o.

What about you?
Just a car? When was the last time you jumped in your car, buckled your seat belt and the car just took you there. That car IS the attraction. It is run by computer. Yes, the steering is mechanical, but I have no doubt that if it weren't for possible terminal consequences, would be done via computer as well. It does all those maneuvers without a human physically controlling it. It is amazing to me how we have become so complacent with technology that we are able to just mentally expect that to happen. :)

But everyone is entitled to like or not like something. To me it's...Toy Story Mania!

If that's the attraction it's gonna need another update...

Impressive, but do you think that if they didn't have a driver at the ready they would be able to comfortably let large number of people ride in it. You will notice that you as a passenger in that TT car have absolutely no control over it and no way of correcting a malfunction. If the computer hiccups while you are at high speed and doesn't slow down at the end, what do you suppose would happen? Just getting in it is a giant leap of faith. I'm sure TT has some control of the power to the ride overall, but things happen a lot faster then someone sitting in a control room can react too. That is were the thrill comes from, other than that it's just the trip to the mall.

It's actually safer than driver controlled cars: http://mashable.com/2012/08/07/google-driverless-cars-safer-than-you/

Also you just grab the wheel and move it and you're back in control. It gives control to you immediately. The places where it's been made legal so far require a driver awake and in the front seat in order for it to be legal.

Soarin' Over Pgh

I think what they need to do with Soarin, is change it from the California show. Maybe have us fly over different parts of the world. Europe, Asia, Africa....how awesome a shot would it be to fly over a stampede of buffalo, zebra, and giraffes getting chased by lions, or something like that.

...My screen name is Soarin' Over Pgh. Meaning I'd like a simulated flight over my city, Pittsburgh. Not that I'm terribly fond of the ride (I'm not!) but I think if they changed the cities up- heck, even countries- it would be a far better show.

Yes, in the Google one you showed us, but I'm talking about TT...what wheel does one grab to get in control in that vehicle. I'm not inclined to argue it anymore because it is my opinion and I believe that I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that is my opinion about TT.

Well that's not a real car.

The original question was what are the attractions that are most hyped that don't live up to the expectations set for them. I think that removes a lot of attractions from consideration. For instance, I don't think anyone ever said that Stitch's Great Escape was super-hyped.

I can't comment on Soarin because, over the course of 8 trips, I've never been able to ride it. I will not wait in line for 90 minutes and every time I've tried to get a fastpass they've been out for the day. I know lots of people love it, but I don't get why anyone would wait in line that long to basically watch a short movie.

But that brings me to my next point, which is that rides are very personal. I've never quite gotten the extreme love for Spaceship Earth - for me, it's a nice, pleasant ride, but I wouldn't be upset if I missed it. On the other hand, I couldn't go to MK and not go to the Tiki Room. When the song starts I'm just filled with glee, and it takes me to a more innocent and fun-loving time. Some people go on the older rides (Small World, PPF) and they think they're lame. But others (like me) love them for the historical value and the charm. As I said, it's very personal.
