Yeah. 39 mph for the distance you fall is faster than freefall.

Standard gravitational acceleration is 9.8 meters per second per second. That equals 22 mph per second. For the couple of seconds you fall, it sounds more or less about right. It will obviously differ depending on your fall sequence, now that it's random.

FYI.... the acceleration due to gravity at the Earth's surface is approximately 9.81 m/s<SUP>2</SUP>, depending on the location.
And TOT's elevators are being pulled down with 1.1 times the gravity...
