does anyone know how they do the door opening effect in the fifth dimension?

I guess it's an overhead projection of those stars .. you can see the lightbar on the inner side of the door when it opens

i mean when you are almost to the drop shaft, and these ligh bars that look like a door are in front of you and than the 'door' opens and you enter the drop shaft.

projected? i always assumed there were some sort of armatures with LED's mounted on them that physically slid to the sides when you approached

It's all done with fiber optics embedded in the door for the stars and the light that outlines the doors edge.
